"I've heard about the IDS or ID: Shacklers." Daniel said, after several moments of silence. "They're an underground organization, filled with spies. Kind of a gray area, I guess, 'cause you never know who they really serve. Good or evil? The pure-hearted or the corrupted? So now that you're not even sure of the target you've been following all this time, what's your plan... Saika Eunice Navarro?"

Saika, with eyebrows knitted together, stared at Daniel. "Wait... how did you know that there are spies in our group? Something's off."

Humakbang si Daniel ng kaunti at ngumiti ng mapang-asar. "Mene mene tekel upharsin. This is that certain moment where I will ask you, does that ring a bell?"

Parang nawalan na talaga ng dugo sa mukha ang pagkaputla ni Saika nang marinig niya 'yon. Wait? What was Daniel talking about? That phrase is from the Bible, specifically from a book which also has the same name as his. Anong meron?

"You're... you're not supposed to know—about that! H-how? How did you know?!" she frantically asked wide-eyed while pointing at the Interpol Agent.

"I didn't actually expect to know about that. Truthfully, napikon lang 'tong tech guy namin dahil may maingay na signal na sumisingit dito sa area. He cracked it open, you know what I mean, and then voila, he discovered the conversation you had between you and your superior. At ang code niyo pa talaga, galing sa book ng Bible na kapangalan ko pa. Unbelievable." at natawa ng kaunti si Daniel saka ngumisi.

Their tech guy, whose covert duty was to be the assistant of the Registrar, stood beside Daniel. Para bang inaasar din nito si Saika nang kumaway ito para ipakita na siya ang nakadiskubre ng conversation na nabanggit. Hindi ko alam ang pinag-uusapan nila kaya nakinig na lang ako ng mabuti.

"He actually got annoyed by that ticking signal." dagdag ni Daniel habang nakatingin sa kasamahan niya. "That's why he showed it to me. Mind you Saika, our tech guy here found your conversation at night, here in campus grounds. Kung hindi pa ba shady business ang tawag diyan, 'di ba?"

Hindi nagsalita si Saika at pilit na lang niyang kinakalma ang sarili. But it appears she couldn't pull herself together any longer since I could see her slightly balling her fists. Eh paano? Cornered na siya eh. It's still baffling for me to discover that one of the people whom I consider as a friend, would also be part of a group interested in the database. This is such a twist of events I never would have expected. Kung hindi pa pala ako naihi kaninang umaga, hindi ko pa malalaman ito. Talk about chances.

"So let me ask you the question again. Now that we're all here and you've been found out, what's your next plan of action? Hmm?" tanong ng Interpol Agent na may kaunting tono ng panunuya.

I was surprised when Saika turned to me and spoke with her teeth slightly gritted. "Lucas, sabihin mo na kasi! I know that it's with you."

I quickly scoffed with wide eyes when I heard her say that. "What's with me? Teka. Ibabalik ko lang 'yong sinabi mo sa'kin kaninang umaga, Saika." and I leaned my head a bit forward while still sitting on my swivel chair. "'Basta. I don't need to explain myself to you.'"

Saika gave me an expression of defeat when she heard me say that with a blank stare. Ano ba ang akala niya? Basta basta ko na lang sasabihin sa kanya? That item with me has secrets that can endanger millions of people, which could even wipe out a whole country in a matter of hours. Then all of a sudden, she's gonna ask me to say that it's with me?
