Davin's POV

As Luna presented her report to the Senator, I couldn't help but feel a surge of surprise. There, standing before us, was none other than Senator Bail Organa himself. His presence lent an air of gravity to the room, emphasizing the importance of Luna's mission.

"I'm glad your mission went well, Luna," Senator Organa remarked, his voice carrying the weight of authority. "Mandalorian space is a challenging territory to navigate, especially when rescuing individuals sympathetic to our cause."

"Yes, it was a difficult one. But the Empire attacked my ship before I could leave...." Luna said as she referred to the loss of Mason.

"Yes, the Mandalorian Mercenary you mentioned. I am sorry for your loss. But tell me, how did you escape if the Empire was tracking you?" Senator Organa's inquiry prompted Luna to glance back at me. Stepping forward, I introduced myself to him.

"It was because of him. This is Davin. He was friends with Mason. He tracked me down and rescued me from the Empire, despite only seeking his friend," Luna explained, prompting the Senator to express his gratitude for my actions.

"I thank you, Mandalorian. Tell me, why would a warrior like yourself go out of your way to save my friend Luna?" Senator Organa's question held a hint of scrutiny, probing the sincerity of my motives.

"Well, Senator, my friend Mason died helping Luna. It would have been dishonorable if I didn't carry on his mission for him. So, I took a blaster bolt in the shoulder and nearly exploded, but ultimately, it was the right thing to do," I replied, sensing a faint smile from the Senator in response.

"Hmm, I see. Perhaps that means you're willing to join our cause?" he proposed, but I swiftly dismissed the idea of joining the Rebellion.

"No, I am not, Senator. My only concern right now is for my clan. I don't wish to take part in a war that could jeopardize our safety," I stated firmly, closing the door on any notion of involvement in the conflict. I turned to look at Luna who had a slight shocked expression on her face.

"Hmm well thank you again for helping Luna. All I would ask of you is you bring her to a location that I'll send to your ship. There you can drop her off and my people can extract her to bring her home." Bail instructed of me.

"That's fine with us Senator. We will do of what you ask." I told him.

"Good thank you, I will see to it that you will be compensated for all your work." Bail said as he was referring to payment since he probably knew I was a Mercenary. I didn't respond as to me credits were credits.

The transmission ended, leaving me alone with Luna, who seemed disappointed by my refusal of Bail's offer.

"So, I guess working for the Rebellion is out of the question, huh?" she asked, her tone tinged with disappointment.

"Look, I'm sorry, but my clan comes first. I'm all for helping others in need, but joining a full-scale war against the Empire isn't something I'm willing to risk," I explained earnestly. Luna crossed her arms, clearly not pleased with my decision, but she didn't push the matter further.

"Well, I can't say I don't understand your reasoning for not getting involved. But I'll only leave it at this; I know you're concerned with protecting your family by not getting involved, but the Empire doesn't care if you oppose them or not. They will always want to be in control," Luna said, her words carrying a weight of truth as she turned and left the room, leaving me and Scythe alone on the bridge, contemplating the difficult choices ahead.

Scythe sat next to me prompting me to ask him about his opinion on the matter that just occurred.

""What do you think, Scythe? Should we get involved?" I turned to my faithful droid companion, seeking his perspective on the matter that had been weighing heavily on my mind since Luna's departure.

"Honestly, no... The Empire may be bad and all, but I don't think fighting them is any better, at least not in our situation," Scythe replied truthfully, his metallic voice carrying a sense of wisdom born from countless experiences by my side.

As I sat there, mulling over Luna and Scythe's words, I found myself torn between two conflicting ideologies. I had never given much thought to the broader galactic conflict, consumed as I was by the affairs of my clan. The Empire's atrocities had been a distant concern, until Mason's sacrifice forced me to confront the harsh reality of their tyranny.

Maybe Luna was right... or perhaps staying out of it altogether would be the best course of action for our survival. These conflicting thoughts swirled through my mind, leaving me feeling unsettled and uncertain.

In an attempt to clear my head, I decided to take a stroll around the ship, hoping to find some solace from the relentless tug of war within my mind. I made my way to the galley, intending to distract myself with some simple task, but my plans were interrupted by the presence of Luna, who sat against the counter lost in her own thoughts.

"Hey, you okay?" I approached her cautiously, sensing her contemplative mood.

"Oh, hey. Yeah, I'm okay, just thinking, that's all," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

"What do you mean?" I leaned in across from her, eager to understand the turmoil behind her thoughtful expression.

"It's just that, I've been fighting the Empire for some time, and it's hard to feel like whatever I've accomplished means anything sometimes," Luna confessed, her vulnerability adding depth to her earlier words. As I listened, her revelation resonated with me, shedding light on the weight she carried and the toll her relentless struggle against tyranny had taken on her.

"I see... Why did you join the Rebellion? If you don't mind me asking," I inquired, my curiosity piqued as I sought to understand the driving force behind her unwavering commitment to the cause. Luna's gaze softened as she regarded me, a subtle shift in her demeanor signaling her willingness to share her story with me.

I felt compelled to hear her perspective, to glimpse the world through her eyes and understand the motivations that led her down this path. Yet, amidst the exchange of words, I couldn't shake the inexplicable pull I felt towards her. There was something about Luna, something magnetic and alluring, that drew me in, transcending the boundaries of mere curiosity.

Perhaps it was the shared sense of purpose or the genuine connection we seemed to share, but being in her presence felt undeniably comforting. As I sat across from her, captivated by her words and entranced by her presence, I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more between us, something that went beyond camaraderie and veered into the realm of possibility.
