chapter fifteen: a spider's bite

Paw-printed desks.

Shattered chairs.

Crumpled papers.

Class 3-C had been trashed. And it was all thanks to one sprightly bunny.

A particular cream-haired girl scurried all over the classroom, trailing behind the pouncing critter, who had been advantageously hopping over objects that were in the way.

The bunny sprang on top of the teacher's wooden podium at the front of the classroom and stayed frozen, twirling its direction to the girl behind him. His blue and brown mismatched eyes flitted to the fatigued girl, nose twitching in thrill.

Nene leaned over in exhaustion, rubbing off the trickling sweat away from her chin. She heaved out exhausted breaths, chest rising and falling.

But then, when her head shot up to look at the bunny eye-to-eye, her lips curved up into a victorious smirk.

"Hanako-kun..." she threw a pointed finger at Yuni. "Go!"

The black, choppy-haired ghost ambushed the bunny from behind, hurling his blue butterfly net toward Yuni. "Gotcha this time!"

The net was only an inch away from touching his ears; but, with nimble grace, Yuni effortlessly leaped off the podium, leaving Hanako swiping at thin air.

Hanako shrieked before he toppled over, his forehead slamming into the surface of the podium instead.

"Oh my gosh," Nene hurried over to Hanako, lifting his bangs to examine his face. "Are you okay? That must have hurt."

Nene leaned in, her hand reaching for his forehead. "Ah, I hope a lump doesn't form..."

A tinge of pink dusted his cheeks as the girl's fingers brushed him, his amber eyes blinking in shy surprise.

But suddenly, a flirtatious grin made its way across his face.

"It hurts so bad..." he dramatically wiped the fake tears out of his eyes, letting out an exaggerated sob. "Yashiro, I think a kiss on the forehead would make me feel a lot better–"

A tentative slap to the face had been Hanako's fate at that moment, flinging the boy to the ground with twice the impact the bunny had done to him a moment ago.

While Hanako uttered ouches, Nene sighed and glanced over her shoulder to the white rabbit, munching on the edges of a dusty curtain below the classroom window.

"Y/N-chan..." She slammed her hands in prayer, screwing her eyes shut. "I really hope you get here soon!"

Chapter Fifteen:
A Spider's Bite

Tsukasa busted the door open, revealing the cluttered sight to both the boy and the worried girl beside him. With uncontainable excitement, the boy then squealed in joy when his eyes landed on his beloved twin brother.

"Amane, Amane!" Tsukasa raced towards Hanako, beaming from ear-to-ear, his arms flailing out in the open for a hug.

As Tsukasa drew closer, Hanako's expression shifted from surprise to a mix of both anxiety and guilt. As soon as Hanako was on the verge of inching back, Tsukasa suddenly dove towards him, compelling Hanako into a tight embrace.
