Holding the small child close, Aizawa lay with her atop the bed. Cradling, comforting. Her sobs had died down eventually and all that was left was a tear stricken shaking child who still internally called for the pale haired girl

"Kiddo" he breathed, careful to not destroy the careful peace that finally lapsed into the room. "Would you like to see Eri?" he tried, patting her head, watching her stir

"I can see" she mumbled, nasally, voice hoarse

"Mhm, I can let you look at her through the window, but not up close if that's okay"

"See Eri" she whispered, curling her head onto the arm Aizawa laid under her head as she cuddled into him. "I wannu see" she pouted, eyes flickering up to meet his, hers glossing over once more as her tired eyes stung as she grew emotional "I wannu"

"Okay" he cooed, brushing a stray tear from her cheek "do you wanna go now" he offered, careful not to push, careful not to ruin the peace

"I wannu go" the little girl whined "now"

"Mhm" he hummed, before sitting up, careful, gentle "would you like me to carry you" he asked, staring at the girl who continued to lay atop the mattress. It was slight, but he took notice of the small nod. Slowly he scooped her up in his arms, letting her warm body slump against his as he held her against his hip. Her flushed warm face pressed atop his shoulder. Salty rivulets staining her cheeks. Her energy was depleted, she was tired, scared, nervous. Her bottom lip still trembled, tears welling in her eyes every few seconds before receding all the same. Her sadness coming in waves, crashing down before returning back to shore

"We might see some people in the hallways, okay" the teacher warned, despite the late or rather early hours of 2:28am, nurses still roamed the corridors every so often, making rounds

"oh...kay" her voice was tiny, raspy. Carefully sliding open the door, he held her steady. She was dwindled to a piece of glass, frail, fragile. She was so very tired which was obvious due to her heavy eyelids and slow movements and yet her fear was all consuming. The images of sleep haunting her, flashing over and over

The hallway seemed colder than the dim room. The florescent lights causing him to squint in discomfort. He could feel her shiver in his arms and shove her head into the crook of his neck so he placed a comforting hand to her back, patting carefully.

It was strange. Only a few hours ago she was so full of life, so excited, so happy. Yet now it was as though she was an entirely different child. The switch flipped. The shadow clung, it swallowed her whole

His footsteps were light against the tile and Aizawa made sure not to rock too much as he carried her down the hall. The girl was still, lifeless, it was scary

They walked in silence, the corridor void of any person besides the two. It was better this way. Less interactions, less chances of distractions, quicker meeting between Eri and the girl, quicker possibility of her mood lifting
