"Emmett Cullen! I know that wasn't my new antique vase from Africa!" Esme, my mother of all sorts yelled at the sound of something smashing on our wooden floor downstairs

Emmett cringed and looked down at the broken pieces by his feet. I could tell from his thoughts it was the vase and he was pooping himself at Esme's reaction. I chuckled, a vampire shouldn't be able to scare easy but even I had to admit Esme could be quite scary when she had to be.

I don't know why they wouldn't just move everything out of Emmett's way when he's playing the Xbox. Especially if he's playing it with Jasper because the pair of them were known for breaking stuff. They got too competitive and the amount of consoles, TVs and new furniture we had to buy because of them was unbelievable. I sighed and continued reading my book whilst listening to the argument downstairs. It's not like I wanted to hear it, but with vampire hearing it was hard drowning that sort of stuff out.

"Sorry mum but Jasper cheated!" Emmett whined like a child.

"I did not! You just can't play the game!"

They continued bickering back and forth and it didn't take me reading Esme's mind to find out she was getting more and more angry. I chucked my book to one side and dashed downstairs to watch all of this unfold. I didn't have much entertainment so nights like this gave me a boost.

The scene in front of me was quite comical. Emmett and Jasper were bickering back and forth, Alice was dazed as she watched their futures (she probably wanted to know how it all ends) Carlisle was shaking his head at his two sons and Rosalie was being Rosalie, not taking any notice of her husband or brother whilst she flipped through a magazine. Esme, however, looked furious. If looks could kill then Emmett and Jasper would be ashes on the ground. I've never seen her this angry, she must have really liked that vase. I found myself shrinking under her gaze and backing further into the wall wishing it would swallow me up. I knew she wasn't mad at me but damn, she was quite scary.

"ENOUGH!" Esme roared and the room fell silent. It was rare Esme yelled but when she did, it made us all freeze in one place. "I have had it up to here with you boys breaking things!"

"But mum-" Emmett started but Esme shut him up with a glare.

"I wasn't finished," she stated and Emmett shrunk back, "you two boys have ruined enough stuff whilst playing them stupid games! I've had enough of replacing my nice furniture! So, from now on you are both banned from playing them under this roof until further notice. Got it?"

Jasper was trying to calm her down using his gift and I chuckled. Even Jasper was scared of Esme right now. Emmett's eyes darted to me and he snarled.

"Shut it Eddie boy" he hissed and I growled.

"Don't call me that"

"Boys, behave before you give your mother a heart attack" Carlisle said, wrapping an arm around his wife. My heart clenched with jealously. They all had a mate except me. I was all alone.

Emmett laughed. "Her heart doesn't beat!"

I groaned and rolled my eyes. Sometimes Emmett could be really stupid and say things at the wrong times. Seeing how things would unfold, Alice stood up and started unplugging the Xbox console but to Emmett's dismay. He started to protest but Alice held her finger up to stop him.
