I've been cleaning and organizing my room for the past couple days. As I've done that, I have come across many old songs that I wrote throughout middle school and freshman year. Most of these songs, I had completely forgotten about. However, as I started reading the long forgotten lyrics, I was almost sent back in time to the days I wrote them. I was able to recall exactly why I wrote each song and exactly how I felt and for most of them, I could even remember exactly where I was when the words came to mind. I was amazed at how much a few simple words that could mean anything brought me back to really emotional times in my past. When I was younger, I tried keeping a diary or a journal and I guess it never stuck with me. Songwriting does nearly the exact same thing for me, just in a different format. I just find it incredible that song lyrics can bring me back to just about any point in my life.
