(7 years back)

As I sat alone in the classroom, the sound of silence echoing around me, I focused on the task at hand, determined to complete my test to the best of my ability. Outside in the hallway, I could see Kuroo and Semi engaged in animated conversation with their friends, their laughter drifting in through the partially open door.

Finishing my test, I gathered my belongings and prepared to leave, but I couldn't help but feel a pang of envy as I watched Kuroo and Semi laughing and joking together. They seemed to move through the world with an easy confidence that I envied, their friendship a testament to the bonds that had formed between them over the years.

As I made my way out into the hallway, I was greeted by Mira, who had come to lend me a hand. Together, we made our way up the stairs, our footsteps echoing in the empty hallway as we chatted about our plans for the weekend.

Just as we reached the top of the stairs, the door swung open, and there stood Semi, his breath coming in heavy gasps as though he had been running. Without hesitation, he approached me, his expression urgent as he explained that he needed help with an assignment.

"Y/n, please help me," Semi pleaded, holding out the assignment for me to see. Kuroo stood beside him in the hallway, his presence casting a shadow over the interaction as Mira and I faced them.

"Why me?" I asked, puzzled by Semi's sudden request.

"It's too difficult, and I thought maybe you could tutor me," Semi explained, glancing at Kuroo, who appeared annoyed but unwilling to show it.

"Sure," I replied, trying to hide my surprise at his request. With a nod, we went our separate ways, and as Mira and I walked out of the school, heading towards our favorite cafeteria.

As Mira and I settled into our usual spot in the cafeteria, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, adding to the cozy ambiance. We placed our orders, and as we waited for our food to arrive, our conversation naturally drifted towards relationships.

"So, how's it going with Osamu?" I asked, stirring my coffee absentmindedly.

Mira's face lit up with a radiant smile. "It's been amazing, honestly. He's so supportive and understanding. I couldn't ask for a better partner," she gushed, her eyes sparkling with affection.

I couldn't help but smile at her happiness. "That's great to hear. You two seem perfect for each other," I remarked, genuinely happy for her.

"Yeah, it's been quite a journey, but I'm glad we found each other," Mira replied, her gaze drifting off for a moment as if reminiscing about their shared experiences.

Our conversation flowed effortlessly as we caught up on each other's lives, sharing stories and laughter over our meals. Despite the occasional ups and downs, it was comforting to know that Mira had found someone who brought out the best in her.

The next day as I waited outside the library, the crisp morning air filled my lungs, invigorating me for the day ahead. I glanced around, scanning the bustling campus for any sign of Semi. Just as I was about to check my watch, I spotted him hurrying towards me, a determined expression on his face. What caught my attention, however, was the absence of Kuroo by his side. It was the first time I had seen Semi without his friend, and it piqued my curiosity.

"Hey" I greeted him with a warm smile as he approached, slightly out of breath from his brisk pace.

"Yeah, sorry I'm a bit late," he replied, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "Thanks for agreeing to help me out with this."

I waved off his apology with a reassuring smile. "No problem at all. Let's head inside and get started."

As Semi and I walked inside, I couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension. Tutoring him seemed like a simple task, but his sudden request left me feeling uneasy.

Arriving at a quiet corner of the library, Semi spread out the assignment on a nearby table, his brow furrowed in concentration. I glanced over the questions, noting their complexity. It was clear that Semi had struggled with the material, and I couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't sought help sooner.

"So, where do you need help?" I asked, trying to sound encouraging despite my reservations.

Semi hesitated for a moment before pointing to a particularly challenging problem. As I began to explain the concepts, I noticed the tension in his shoulders slowly ease. It was clear that he was genuinely trying to understand, and I found myself admiring his determination.

As we worked through the assignment, the conversation drifted from math problems to more personal topics. Semi shared stories from his childhood, revealing a side of himself that I hadn't seen before. Despite our differences, I couldn't deny the growing sense of camaraderie between us.

Eventually, we completed the assignment, and Semi thanked me for my help with a genuine smile. As we parted ways, I couldn't shake the feeling that our interaction had shifted something between us, though I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.

Walking home, I mulled over the encounter with Semi, wondering what it meant for our friendship and for my complicated feelings towards Semi. Little did I know, this seemingly innocuous tutoring session would be the catalyst for a series of events that would change everything.
