Hope and Mike had left the Hollywood sign, returning to the school in time for Hope to immediately be whisked away by Alaric for her 'punishment' which turned out to be litter picking.

And Mike had a lesson to teach,

"The origins of werewolves. Whilst each culture has it's own variation of the story, we are lucky enough to know the truth. A vengeful witch cursed the original wolf bloodlines after they managed to trap her. This curse was the one of the most powerful in the history of magic, along with the original vampire curse and the immortal curse" He was explaining to the group,

"Mr Smith?" One student asked, raising her hand out of politeness, "I get why the werewolf and vampire spells are curses, but why the immortality one? Surely living forever like that is a blessing?"

"Well, does anybody have any idea why that may be?" He opened the question out to the group, "Why would immortality be labelled as a curse?"

Nobody raised their hands to answer, causing Mike to sigh, "Well then, Imagine you didn't grow old. You didn't die. You would watch the ages pass and not a single grey hair would grow on your head"

"That sounds great?" Someone exclaimed from the back row, making the whole class laugh,

He shrugged, "Might do, but what about your loved ones? Your family who do not have this 'blessing'" He could already see a few of them thinking it over, "What about friends? Lovers? How would you explain to them that you're not aging whilst they grow old in front of your very eyes?"

"So Vampires are screwed?" Someone scoffed, "Could have told you that myself"

Mike narrowed his eyes at the student, "Maybe show some sympathy towards your fellow students"

The individual who had mocked Mike's words shivered under his gaze, "Sorry" he muttered,

"Most immortals adapt though, they find other immortals to live their lives with. Some hibernate to pass the time. Most drink" He chuckled, "But whilst immortality is normally seen as a curse, it can be a blessing. Life isn't about the time, it's what you do with it that counts"

The bell started ringing, indicating it was time for the students to move on, "Remember I'm expecting a report on the origins of werewolves by friday!" He yelled after the retreating students,

"It sure is weird to see you like this" Gabby laughed as she appeared next to him, "So..."

"Domesticated?" He chuckled,

Gabby chuckled but shook her head, "Normal"

"We're archangels Gabriel. Normal isn't in our vocabulary" He answered back, "Now you heard anything about dumb and dumber?"

"Alaric's sent a hunter after them, to try and bring them back. I've got pastors looking into Landon's background, to see if there's anything unusual in there" She explained,

"Anything on Lucy?" He sighed,

Gabby shrugged, "As far as I can tell, she's still locked away. The cage is standing strong"

Mike tapped his fingers on the desk, "Then it's something else" he sighed, "But what?"

Before either could brainstorm anymore, they heard a scream from outside the classroom. In a flash Mike had launched himself over the desk and was chasing down whatever had screamed,

When he reached the corridor he found Alaric holding a knife and staring down a gargoyle . It knocks him to the side, knocking him out in the process.

"I wanted to do that!" Mike complained before charging the gargoyle who was reaching for the knife.

Bracing his shoulder, he barged into the gargoyle sending it flying backwards. Away from the knife. Without thinking Mike reached to pick up the knife, only for it to start burning his skin.

"Fuck!" He yelled as he dropped it and cradled his burnt hand, "What the hell?!"

The Gargoyle took the opportunity by the two stunned archangels, to throw a heavy blow into Mike. Sending him flying backwards into a wall, and hurting him a lot more than it should have.

"Mike!" Gabby yelled, before turning around and blasting the gargoyle with a beam of green energy. But it had no affect, simply dissipating around the creature, "That's not fair" Gabriel whined,

With a roar, the Gargoyle charged at Gabriel with unrealistic speeds. Grabbing her by the head and slamming it into the ground. Knocking her unconscious. As Mike tried to climb to his feet, he too suddenly found the gargoyle in front of him. And before he could react, the creature's fist collided with his face. Sending him to the land of the unconscious.
