"Life is everchanging. Society moves on, people move on and if we do not follow then we will be left behind. So do not fight change. Embrace it" Mike was teaching, "William Shakespear said this on the day the globe theatre opened and there were riots against some of the plays he put on"

"Mr Smith why do you keep teaching us random quotes?" Someone asked in the back row, "Shouldn't you be teaching us about magic?"

Mike walked forwards, still having to use his cane to support himself, "Everyone else is here to teach about magic, I decided from day one that I was going to teach you about more than just that. I'm going to teach you about life"

"And random quotes will do that?" The same kid asked,

"The quotes aren't random" He retorted, "These quotes I teach you. The lessons these people pass onto us can still be used today. Even with how different society is, and even with our supernatural aspects. Everybody has to deal with these things"

The bell rang and students fled the room as fast as they could. Mike sighed, kids would never change. He meandered forwards, his shoulders hunching as he used his cane. It wouldn't be a permanent addition to his life, but until he had healed more he was bound by it.

Moving through the corridors that were bustling with students he was hell bent on finding Alaric. Since their little bonding session after the necromancer the two had become some variance of friends. Eventually he ran into Dorian,

"Where the hell is Ric?" He demanded,

Dorian smirked, "Didn't he tell you? He and Hope went on a road trip to help Landon"

Mike's teeth were grinding behind his tightly sealed lips, "No they didn't" he sighed, before turning and storming to Ric's office. Grabbing the phone he dialled the teacher's number,

"Where the hell are you?!" The archangel demanded when the call connected,

"Mike heyyy" Alaric trailed off awkwardly, knowing he probably should have kept him in the loop,

"Where are you Alaric?" The archangel repeated,

"We're going to lawrence" He admitted, "Landon's SOS went off so we're going to help"

"And you didn't tell me because...?" Mike asked,

"We can do it" Alaric replied, "We're leaving you at the school in case anything turns up"

A crack of thunder sounded outside, "I don't like this Alaric" he snapped,

"I know Mike" Ric admitted, "But there's nothing you can do right now so just sit tight and we'll be back before you know it"

And the call was disconnected before he could say another word.

"I swear to god..." Mike cursed, slipping the phone into his pocket and walking out of the office, immediately bumping into Lizzie.

"Mike!" She exclaimed,

"Hello Elizabeth" He sighed, "Are you okay?"

She shrugged, "I guess, I'm looking for my Dad have you seen him?"

"He's in Lawrence with Hope" Mike explained through gritted teeth,

"Gym?" She asked immediately,

Mike nodded, "Gym."

They both went to the gym, it had become a recurring thing over the last few weeks of Mike's recovery. Either Lizzie would come and find him when life was getting to much, or she'd hear the thunder outside and find Mike. Eventually Lizzie had started to put two and two together, realising that this thunder or Mike's need to blow off some steam normally came hand in hand with issues with Hope.

They arrived in the gym, Mike summoning a punching bag in the centre of the room. One specifically designed to contain his punches. He marched up to it and immediately hit it with his cane.

"That kind of a day huh?" Lizzie chuckled,

"Your father and our resident Tribrid seem to believe that I need to be protected" He grumbled out, "When in reality, even in my weakened state I could level the town of mystic falls to the ground"

Lizzie nodded in understanding, "Why are they even in Lawrence?" She asked,

"Landon" He spat,

"Fuck sake" She sighed sitting on a bench opposite where Mike was stood. He'd thrown the cane to the ground and was now throwing heavy punches at the bag,

Thunder rumbled outside as Mike punched the bag, "He better be in mortal danger, or I swear to god when he gets back here he will be"

"You know you could always tell her?" Lizzie deadpanned,

"Tell who?" Mike played oblivious,

Lizzie smirked, "Hope"

"I've not got anything to tell her at the moment?" The archangel denied anything, continuing to punch the bag,

"God you are all the same?" She sighed,

Mike raised an eyebrow at her as he paused the punching, "Witches?"

"Men!" She exclaimed, "Hiding from your feelings and using a punching bag instead!"

Mike rolled his eyes and went back to the bag, "The only feelings I have at the moment, are annoyance at being handled with kid gloves!" he snapped, "Nothing else is on my mind!"

With a final yell his hand punctured the skin of the bag. Drawing an impressed look from Lizzie.

Whilst Mike was staring at his fist in horror.
