Mike was sat opposite Emma. Neither having said a word. Mike was sat inspecting her office, whilst Emma was inspecting him. His body language, his eyes. All of it.
"Why are you so mad at Hope?" Emma asked,
Mike scoffed, "She betrayed me?" He reminded her.
"She made a mistake" Emma challenged, "Does your father not preach forgiveness?"
Mike tensed up, "My father is a hypocrite" He told her,
"He cast you from heaven" Emma remembered, "He didn't forgive you, so that gives you permission to not forgive others?"
Mike grimaced at her, "This is why I don't do therapy" he said,
"I'm sorry I know this can be a sensitive topic" Emma acknowledged, "But you've told us what is coming. And from what your siblings have said there is only one of us who can stop it if it gets that bad and you cannot be distracted Michael"
He nodded in acceptance, "I don't want to fight her again doc" he sighed, "She's my sister... how can I be expected to fight her?"
"Family is complicated" She agreed, "Whether celestial or mortal"
"I told Hope all of this you know" Mike revealed, "I was confessing all of this to her whilst she was distracting me"
"Which is why you feel so betrayed. You think she used you" She told him,
"She did" He laughed in disbelief,
Emma shook her head, "No Michael. You had no way of knowing what was going on, so she didn't have to come to you. She didn't have to distract you"
"She did anyways though!" He argued,
But Emma just shook her head, "Think about it Michael. Really think about it. You've been alive longer than anything in existence. You were here when we were made. Use your knowledge"
Mike sat in silence, and if you looked closely enough you could almost see the cogs turning in his head.
"She came to me..." He whispered,
Emma nodded, "Why"
"I don't know" He denied,
"Yes you do" She challenged,
Mike stood from his chair, straightening his waist coat as he did, "No, I don't. And I'm sorry but I have things to do"
Emma didn't stop him, clearly he wasn't ready to accept what she was telling him.
Mike left the counsellor's office, heading for his classroom where the other angels were waiting for him.
"Ready?!" Chamuel asked excitedly. Uriel smiled at his little sister, whilst Jophiel sat in the corner of the room, eyes trained on the floor. Gabby was sat behind his desk with her feet on the table.
"Nearly" Mike sighed. With a clap of his hands, the door to his classroom shut and the inside began changing. The tables vanished, as did the chairs. Causing Gabby to fall on her ass. A gramophone appearing next to him.
"Bit old fashioned big brother?" Chamuel laughed,
Grabbing the needle, Mike lowered it onto his record of choice. Earning a few eyebrow raises from his siblings.
"What?" He asked, "It's the right beat"
As Miley Cirus' 'Learned from you' started playing. Mike directed his siblings into place. Jophiel dancing with Gabriel whilst Chamuel stayed with Uriel.
"This dance, it's all about delaying touch for some weird reason" Mike sighed, "Normally it's for couples. But we can see it as siblings as well"
As the music played, Mike instructed them how to move. They could have gone to the larger rehearsal, but Chamuel knew something Mike didn't. Hope had entered the competition.
"Look at it this way" Mike continued, "The not touching represents the distance between us and our other siblings. It shows us how whilst we may be far apart, it's never too far. We'll always be there for each other. To protect, help and love"
The music kept going, and his siblings kept dancing, "You lot are good at this" he praised,
Uriel and Chamuel were moving perfectly, following the beat like some sort of instructions. Gabby and Jophiel were slightly different, feeling the rhythm and enjoying the music. Two different styles, but both working for his siblings. He felt pride surge in him, until some unpleasant memories resurface,
"I love you Michael..."
A voice whispered in his head, making the archangel flinch. He snapped his fingers and the music stopped, the classroom returning to normal.
"Right you've got it" He grumbled, his brow furrowing, "Go sort out the school I have stuff I need to do"
His siblings all looked at him in worry, all of them knowing why he had reacted like this.
"Mike it's okay..." Gabby offered,
"I'm fine!" He snapped, "Now go. People need your help"
His siblings didn't lose their look of concern, but did as he said. As Mike stared at his desk. memories flooding his mind.
"Dance with me Michael..."
A single tear fell from his eyes as he recalled it.
He was broken out of his trance by the door to his classroom flying open and Lizzie storming in, "We have a problem" she told him,
Mike raised his head to the sky in disbelief,
"When don't we"
