THE FIVE of us sat against the cold hospital wall, surrounded by our classmates as the nurses conducted final checkups to ensure no lingering injuries had been overlooked. Parents filtered in and out, their worried voices filling the sterile air as they searched for their children.
I kept my gaze fixed on the entrance, watching as the doors swung open and shut, waiting—no, anticipating—Pain's arrival. Glancing at the others, I could see the subtle tension in their expressions. While we had emerged unscathed, Y/N had not been so fortunate. We all knew Pain wouldn't take that lightly.
With a quiet sigh, I turned my attention to Iida, hoping to distract myself from the unease settling in my chest.
"Itachi, have your caregivers arrived yet?" Iida inquired, his usual formal tone accompanied by a quick scan of the room.
"Not yet," I responded, voice even. "They should be here soon, considering Y/N's condition."
"How is she holding up? The extent of her injuries seemed severe."
"She's strong. She'll pull through," I assured him. "What concerns me more is how our guardians will react... and what actions they'll take in response."
Before Iida could respond, a cheerful voice broke through the solemn atmosphere.
"Hey guys!" Uraraka beamed as she approached. "How are you all feeling?"
"Well," Iida started, adjusting his glasses, "I'm still somewhat shaken by the events, but the rest of you had it far worse than I did. My primary concern is for our classmates. They fought bravely, while I... simply went to retrieve more pro heroes." His fingers curled into a tight fist, shame flickering across his features.
"You helped a lot, Iida," I said plainly.
"Yeah! Without you, we totally would've been toast!" Uraraka added enthusiastically, throwing her arms up for emphasis.
Iida blinked in surprise before a small, grateful smile began to form. "As class president, I will continue striving to be the best hero I can!"
A rare smirk tugged at the corner of my lips—but the moment was short-lived.
