Book: At a Master’s Shadow

Chapters read: 2Chapter 1: The Mythrecanian witch
Pacing: 9/10
For a 5-minute read, this was nice. It was nothing too extreme, though I need to say that the hospital scene confused me for a bit. I was like, “And here I am, opening a book. We’re in the hospital?? Since WHEN???” But this, other than the initial shock, was good.Characters: 9/10
I enjoy the character descriptions, though I want to know what Cassandra looks like. When I read, I imagined her with red hair, confused by this name and my Hunter x Hunter OC Cassandra O’Sullivan. Other than that, the relationship between Cassandra and her mom is nice. I like to see them preparing dinner/supper.World building: 10/10
I liked the start where Cassandra was in the hospital. Though, on my first read, I wanted to know why she was there. Sorry, I chose to review chapters 1-2 and not the prologue, though had I done so, it would’ve made more sense. (Nevermind, the doctor/nurse said it)Chapter 2: Train to Velgar University
Pacing: 10/10
SCHOOL TIME HERE WE COME. Now, what year in university is Cassandra in? Is she starting? I’d just like that to be clarified so it adds to the characters’ reactions. But the pacing here is nice.Characters: /10
I think it’s interesting that Cassandra’s telekinesis magic glitches. My thought is that she isn’t experienced, but hey; I’m just saying. And Cassandra’s mom’s reaction might be her crying. I find it sweet that she’s wishing her baby off to school even though she isn’t a little girl.World building: 9/10
From the start, I could tell we’d be at a train station. The title said it, the start of the chapter said it, but I want to know what the train station looks like or what the atmosphere is like. However, I liked the description of the train. It lets us know what the train looks like. 🙂──────── ⋄ ☾∘☽ ⋄ ────────
