"Ahaan?" My dad's guest called out to him. Was there anyone in this world this guy did not know. I noticed the woman standing beside my dad's friend and recognized her to be Ahaan's mom as my jaw dropped.
"Dad-?" Ahaan said softly as the colour drained out of his face and I didn't even notice when he swiftly, hid behind me, not that he could hide behind me considering he was 6'2 and I was just 5'2 but hey I'm still growing!
"Ahaan?" His mom questioned in astonishment.
"Mom-" Ahaan replied softly.
"Alisha?" His mom asked surprised again as the couple noticed Alisha who was hiding behind Ahaan who in turn was hiding behind me and all eyes eventually fell on me.
"Move move, hide somewhere else everyone's looking at me and I don't like it." I whispered at him scared.
"I would rather prefer running away from here." Ahaan whispered back. He looked confused and dumbfounded too. There it was- I'm sure there's no way he would continue the act in front of everyone now that his reputation in front of his parents was about to get spoiled.
"Dad? That's your son Adi?" My dad questioned his dad.
"Yes thats my son Ahaan but what are you doing here?" His dad questioned.
"Yes I thought you were out with your friends." His mom questioned him.
"Umm- here- my friend" He said pointing at me. I swear I was going to kill him. I quietly greeted his mom and dad and his mom immediately recognized me giving me a warm smile.
All his bravado had gone away seeing his parents. Wasn't he flauting two minutes ago he sees me in the wife category and now I'm his friend? Great- I felt stupid for getting butterflies over his words back then and to take revenge I stepped on him as he closed his eyes for a second in pain.
He looked at me in my eyes and suddenly something flashed in them for a second, I could not tell what as he announced in front of everyone, "Mom, dad - this is Noor, my girlfriend."
Alisha clasped her hands over her mouth as Ahaan put on his bravest face but I was the reddest shade of tomato as everyone looked at us. I mean I know asked for it but this was embarrassing. My family had a weird expression on their face just like me. His parents had unreadable expressions on their faces.
"Why hasn't everyone taken their seats yet? The food will get cold." My mom entered the room with some house-helps carrying more dishes, unaware of whatever happened which somehow helped to ease the awkward tension in the air.
To my awful luck, his seat ended up being right beside mine. His parents and my parents were on the opposite side of the table and we were on the other end as my other family members sat between. We couldn't hear their conversation but we didn't need to. Every two minutes the four of them kept looking at us and pretty sure talking about us.
