Kimberly waited patiently outside, feeling the cold air blowing through her clothes. She hugged herself tightly, getting tired of waiting. As she turned around to walk back into the building she could hear the engine of a car. She stared at the corner of the building as a car drove out of cover.
She let out a sigh as she hurried up to the car, getting into the passenger seat. She laid eyes on her brother, not too happy.
-"You said 11. I've been standing here for fifteen minutes, Johnny, freezing my fucking arse off," Kimberly muttered, dragging the seatbelt over her body.Johnny laughed at her sister, finding her funny when she pretended to be mad. She was short and tiny enough to make her nothing but adorable.
-"Yes, sourpuss. You don't complain when we're on missions for hours freezing our arses off, but you complain about fifteen minutes? You're adorable, sister," Johnny said, grinning for himself.-"Yeah, yeah. You're just lucky you're my brother," Kimberly muttered.
-"Why? Can't you bring yourself to be mad at me?" Johnny asked, grinning towards Kimberly.
-"No, I'm afraid I can't. You're even making me get a tattoo with you, Johnny. You're the only family I have left. Of course I can't be mad at you," Kimberly said, smiling towards him.Johnny laughed for himself as he drove away from base, excited to get Kimberly her first tattoo.
-"It's a good thing though, that you can't be mad at me," Johnny said, looking over at Kimberly. "Because when that child is born I'll be all up in your business all day. Why do I get the feeling that only I am exited for this?"-"Only you, me, Simon, Kate and Yuri know about this, maybe that's why. John is going to be ten times happier than you," Kimberly said. "He always wanted a family of his own, but always put work first. I think it will be safer to tell him after fourteen weeks."
-"Why's that?" Johnny asked.
-"The chances of a miscarriage is drastically reduced after fourteen weeks. I don't want him to get his hopes up just in case. I did ruin my body by removing Phillip's child, so I don't know how the path ahead is going to be," Kimberly said. She didn't even want to think about Phillip's reaction when the news came out. She knew he would explode in anger.-"I've just got to say you're the bravest fucking person on this team. I can't imagine cutting myself open and going to the hospital afterwards. No sedation, no painkillers. It takes quite the guts to shove your own hands into your stomach. Hell, I get squeamish for the smallest cut."
-"If only that was true, Johnny. I'm not brave, I'm a coward. I always go for the easy route. I acted out of fear and killed a baby. I was selfish," Kimberly said. She didn't remember too much from that evening, only that she had cut herself open and barely managed to get to the hospital in time. The hours after were gone.-"Don't you dare talk yourself down. Only idiots would actually have Phillip's child," Johnny snapped.
-"Phillip is a hopeless romantic. He wouldn't be a bad father, as of it's all he ever wanted. A family. I didn't want to give him one though. I wasn't the right woman for him, which I only wished I would have noticed sooner. Enough talk about this, please," Kimberly said, hugging herself. It hurt her to think back on how dumb she had been. She should definitely have left Phillip way sooner, instead of telling him that she couldn't have children. It wasn't fair to him, but he had never been fair to her either. She should have said no when he proposed to her and left. But she had been too young and naive.
-"But why did you fall for him? I can't see how you and him found each other," Johnny said, taking a look at his sister. He couldn't understand why she had accepted this abuse, because she seemed too headstrong to be bullied around by a simple man like Phillip.
