Silence.
In any other situation, I would find it suspicious, dangerous even. In a town that should be filled with life has fallen completely silent around us, there's not a single person, sick or healthy, drunk or sober despite at least 3 bars on this block alone. This is ...weird, Thousands of people can't disappear over three days.
Three days. Is that all it takes to take a whole town of people out? The thought spins in my mind, running laps between guilt and worry for the people around me. It's a short time to turn the world upside down, so it is highly unlikely that everyone is just gone, or at least everyone who didn't get the privilege of being whisked away to the camp . It is nerve-wracking, to say the least. Anyone can come around these dark corners, and we wouldn't have seen them coming. I won't see them coming.
whoever is left out here will not be in their right mind. I know we aren't.
We stay close to the left side of the street, and most of the windows have either been smashed or boarded up messily, which makes it difficult to stay completely silent. Jimin, who stays glued to the front of the group somehow walks into every large pile of glass like his life doesn't depend on not being clumsy for once, each crunch followed by being shushed aggressively by Jungkook, who hasn't moved an inch away from him. The boy has a steel grip on Taehyung, who doesn't protest against it.
Behind them, Yoongi and Namjoon follow, each of them with some kind of wooden weapon they had picked up just a moment ago from a large pile of rubble blocking the corner of the street. Yoongi said he didn't feel quite right about what was to come, which had Taehyung in silent hysterics. Hoseok was nearly there himself. I brushed it off as paranoia starting to hit everyone, Lisa agreeing with me, but I think the hope of no one being around is getting to her head. Everyone can't be gone just like that.
The rest of the group stays in front of me, Lisa and Seungmin first, Hoseok and Jin second. Jackson is right in front of me, silent and eyes to the ground. he can barely look at me since what he had said and I'm glad, I believe he had some truth hidden behind his words and I get that. he rarely has ever said anything he doesn't wholeheartedly mean. not only did this...illness turn the world upside down, but one of my closest friends against me.
Rina wouldn't want this. Jongin wouldn't have stood for it.
"Since when do this many people go missing from one town?,"
My eyes snap to the wall beside us, or rather a large notice board that seems to have been set up for this very purpose. I slowly join the group in their awe at what's before us. across the board are multiple weathered pictures, each of someone smiling in a picture or a selfie, the words missing person, reward, please contact this number seem to be common words plastered over the letters pinned between the pictures. theres at least 50 pictures, some with more then just one person.
