Weakness

"We were just about to come looking," Seungmin almost whispers as we pile back into the camper, Gas canisters in hand and glum expression permanently etched into our faces. The walk back was mostly silent, non of us wanting to speak about what we saw and what kind of danger we could be running into

I only nod in response to Seungmin before slumping down into the passenger seat with a long sigh, drowning out the voices of Seokjin and Jimin explaining what took us so long. the group remains silent but I can practically hear the cogs spinning in their minds, desperately trying to come up with a explanation that doesn't involve humans killing humans in cold blood

but that's the only thing I can come up with, and judging by the looks settling on the groups faces, its the only thing they can come up with too

"Its the end of the world, people are bound to start loosing their shit eventually," Yoongi shrugs and leans back into his chair comfortably as if murder is a normal everyday occurrence for him, but I don't miss the way he quickly diverts his eyes to the window with a slight barely noticeable squint. he's just as nervous and paranoid as everyone else, he just hides it well. much like me in a way

"But why so soon? I assumed people would still have a little bit of hope," Lisa chimes in with a pout, crossing her arms over her chest as a visible shiver runs down her spine. I could have sworn the camper dropped in temperature, but that might just be the dull mood setting in

"A lot of people have probably seen things that will fuck them up for a life time, I cant say that I'm surprised to be completely honest," Namjoon sighs deeply, earning a glare from Seokjin. he shrugs and flashes a sad smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes "I'm just saying we should watch our own and each others back from now on, god knows what kinds of people we might come across,"

"So just keep doing what we've already been doing?" Taehyung questions, tilting his head up at me from his place still crouched down between the driver and passengers seat. he quickly looks between Namjoon and I, his eyes round and innocent but a serious frown on resting on his naturally downturned lips

"Pretty much," I hum "Lets just all agree not to trust anyone but each other, that way, we don't get ourselves killed," I add on earning a few grumbles in agreement, my eyes scan the group but quickly come to a stop on Hoseok. his wide eyes are glued to the window, he looks as if he's about to say something but I speak up quickly to grab his attention

"What is it?" I ask, standing up and quickly making my way over to the window only to see a large crowd of the infected heading right towards us, and fast. luckily enough we filled the tank before coming inside to spill the spine chilling beans

"Looks like you got back just in time," Hoseok tries to laugh but it comes out as a shaky breath, his forced smile faltering when I look over at him with an odd soft smile. I reach over and ruffle his dark hair, a very out of character thing for me, but fuck it, its the end of the world, all the fucks I gave flew out the window as soon as I saw that poor girl being eaten in the school parking lot "Don't worry, well be long gone by time they catch up,"

Hoseok smiles softy to cover the slightly confused expression he was just wearing, his tiny dimples above the corners of his lips showing. I smile back, knowing full well I'm contradicting my earlier thoughts but its impossible to disregard people who are trying to be your friend even when their world is falling apart. the group could have split, and I half expected it too, but the boys I once didn't want to encounter decided to stick with us despite all odds being against us

maybe I'm speaking too soon, but so far they are proving to be reliable and (I cant believe I'm thinking this,) quite likable

At that thought, my eyes move over to Taehyung, who smiles at something Seokjin says as he brings the camper back to life with his own bright smile.
