Waking up the next morning was like any other day. Except for the fact I got with the prettiest girl I've ever seen in my time at Iowa, I was smiling ear to ear.
I walked out of my room to see Caitlin and Monika making a smoothie.
"Where did you go last night? I could have sworn you were at the bar", Caitlin said.
"Just wanted to come home", I lied.
"Oh really? Is that so?", Monika glared at me tilting her head.
"Yeah I was tired", I responded.
"Hmm you sure were pretty loud for tired", Monika snapped.
"Wait hold up, am I missing something? I feel like I'm definitely missing something here", Caitlin said.
"Ask Kate why she was so loud. I got woken up at 1am", Monika said to Caitlin.
"I might have gotten with a girl last night", I said with a smirk.
"Oh yeah Kate!", Caitlin said giving me a high five.
"Not oh yeah when the girl is loud as fuck", Monika continued.
"So who is this lucky girl", Caitlin said.
"She's honestly gorgeous. I had a great time getting to know her. We really vibed. I wasn't expecting to kiss her, let alone hook up. I just happened but I honestly like her", I said with a smile.
"So when will we be meeting this loud, mysterious girl", Monika said.
"Not anytime soon because I don't have her number", I stated.
"Jeez just keep an eye out for her on campus I guess", Caitlin said.
I returned to my room since it was an off day. I jumped on my bed and scrolled on my phone for a while. I jumped onto Instagram to view people's stories, hoping to see the girl from the night before on someone's. I clicked on Caitlin's and it was her reposting a recruits commitment. I decided to click on the post to welcome my new teammate.

I quickly sat up, this can't be. I know I didn't just hook up with my future teammate. Why the fuck didn't she say something? I scrolled through the comments, seeing both Gabbie and Caitlin's comments. I was truly shocked. I thought about stammering out to inform Monika and Caitlin but decided not to, to save myself from being made fun of for probably eternity. I resorted to Gabbie. I quickly ran of Caitlin, Monika, and I's apartment and sprinted down the hall to Gabbie's. I pounded on the door until she finally opened up.
"Anyone here?", I asked.
She shook her head no, I barged past her and my hands were on my head I paced her apartment while Gabbie looked at me confused.
"Um Kate what's going on?", she questioned, still in the doorway.
"I need to talk to you like uh now", I said.
"Okay sit down what's up", she said walking toward the couch.
I sat down next to her, practically sweating at this point.
"Kate?", she asked.
"I'm going to tell you something and you cannot tell a single soul. Not Caitlin. Not Mon. Not anyone from the team", I stated.
"I hooked up with a girl last night and I really liked her-", I started.
"Good shit Kate", Gabbie cheered,
"I don't see the problem though, that should be a good thing you deserve to be happy", she said.
"No that's the thing Gabs", I said while scrolling though my phone to Maddy's post.
"This is the girl", I said holding up my phone to Gabbie.
Gabbie's face dropped realizing what I had done.
"Kate-", she started.
"I really fucked up didn't I", I said to Gabbie.
"No it will be fine. Reach out to her explain how you guys should just put it in the past since you will be teammates", she said.
"She's in fucking high school Gabbie", I yelled.
"I'm 21, about to be a senior in college, and I just got with a fucking high schooler", Kate freaked out.
"Well I know she's 19 and you didn't know Kate. Text her right now. DM her on insta or something", she said.

I slammed my phone down. Gabbie looked at me with wide eyes as I put my hands over my face and groaned.
"So?", she said.
"Just don't tell anyone okay? Thanks", I said as I got up and walked out of the door.
I walked back to my apartment down the hall. I walked in the door past Caitlin and Mon and into my room. I didn't speak a word to either of them, but both gave me the weirdest look. I slammed my door and laid on my bed. I couldn't believe my life.
