Kate's POV:
A lot has happened since our game at Ohio State. Caitlin recently has gotten a lot of media attention due to her game highlights of her shooting logo threes was posted on ESPN. Our team as a whole has started to get a lot of attention and women's basketball was starting to blow up. Even every one of our games for the rest of our season has fully sold out, both home and away.
It was amazing we were getting this type of recognition as it was well earned, but I could tell that Caitlin was nervous about it. Of course she has always been a top player coming out of high school and she has been doing what she's getting attention for since her freshman year here, but it was different now she was getting heavy media attention. Caitlin was constantly getting asked for interviews, going on podcasts, and doing NIL deals.
I tried my best to help her navigate it but I knew as exciting and awesome as it was, it was hard being shot into the public eye. As well as it, most of our team has also been highlighted due to Caitlin's new stardom. A few girls on our team have all gained thousands of followers on social media. It was new for me since I wasn't a sought after recruit in high school, but Maddy understood the pressure already, since she was in the spotlight during her high school career.
Tonight Maddy and I were having a little date night. With everything being as crazy as it has been, we both wanted time alone together, which has been rare the past week. I grabbed my snacks and put on a sweatpants and a hoodie and went over to Maddy's. Carter was home for the weekend so we had the place to ourselves.
I finally made my way up to her suite and knocked on the door. I was met with Maddy opening up the door, her hair in a low messy bun. She had her phone up to her ear as she opened the door.
"Hi baby", she mouthed pulling me into a hug.
Maddy passed around the room, her phone up to her ear as she agreed with whoever was on the other end. I took a seat on the couch as I watched as she continued to walk around the kitchen. Eventually after a moment she hung up the phone and a grin painted her face.
"Who was it?", I asked.
"Nike", she spoked.
"Like Nike? The brand?", I questioned, sitting up on the couch.
"They want to give me an NIL deal", she squealed.
"No way Mads that's insane", I said jumping off the couch.
"I guess I'll have to get an agent now", she joked.
Maddy walked over to me as I wrapped her up in a hug. I lifted her into the air and spun the smaller girl around as she started to laugh.
"I'm so proud of you Mads this is only the start. The world isn't ready for Maddy Cameron", I said into her ear before letting her go.
We grabbed our snacks and we laid on the couch while Maddy flipped through Netflix trying to find something to watch. She laid between my legs, resting her head on my lower stomach. I reached out, pulling her hair out of the messy bun and started to play with it, something I knew Maddy loved me doing.
"Hey baby", I finally said while Maddy continued to look for a movie.
"What's up?", she said, turning around to look at me.
"Are we ever going to tell people?", I said hesitantly.
"You know besides Caitlin and Sami", I continued.
Maddy has a puzzled look on her face. We had talked about this before and I knew how she felt. I didn't want to rush her but at the same time it was hard keeping the girl I was with a secret. I was so happy with Maddy I wanted to tell everyone, I wanted everyone to know this beautiful girl was all mine. Maddy continued to look back at me, with a look on her face, that looked like she was thinking about how to respond to me.
