The Devil will willingly inflict pain you need look no further than the Book of Job for how bad the painful affliction caused by the Devil is. The fact you complain so much about one tiny thing tells me you've let temptation stay invited too long. Pray to God that he will take this topic you can't let go of out of your head, and give your mind some well need peace from the Holy Spirit please forgive yourself and your Mother too you'll feel better when you finally let it go.
