Y/n-

I tap my feet against the ground while sitting on the sofa. My eyes lock with my dad and Jane, sitting on the other side while looking a bit too happy with their big and wide smiles.

I wonder what's causing that?

I see both Luna & Graham entering the living room and they sit down on the sofa as well so we are on one side while our parents are on the other. They called all of us down here to talk. They want to say something and I don't know what it is so it's making me nervous.

"So what is it, mum? " Luna breaks the silence.

Jane & my dad share a look.

"Ok so-"

"Actually we're-"

Both of them speak at the same time then burst out laughing, telling each other to go first. It's a repetitive back and forth.

"Dad! What's up?" I ask in a slightly irritated tone.

He smiles and looks at all of us, "I proposed! We're getting married!" He announces and Jane holds up her finger to show the ring.

And the response this announcement garners is mixed for sure. I feel weird and uncomfortable, I feel like I'm going to explode. What the hell is going on! Graham must be feeling weird too, right?

"What!? That's lovely!" Luna is the first one to react and she even gets up to hug the soon to be married couple.

"I love having y/n as my flatmate and she'd make a great sister and I'd love to have you as a step dad too, you've been very sweet actually" Luna continues.

My dad smiles, "Thank you, Luna"

I share a look with Graham and he looks uneasy as well. We're fucked. This is bad. Oh my god.

"This is great, isn't it! Graham and y/n?" Jane makes eye contact with us as if almost to invite us into the hug.

I nod and Graham does the same. Then Luna motions for us to join the hug and we do that hesitantly while giving everyone awkward smiles.

"Family hug! How sweet!" Jane comments.

Hearing that makes me cringe and Graham feels the same way, I suppose.

"Okay! Enough! We have planned to get married next week and we have so much preparations to do!" My dad breaks it off.

I gasp, "You plan to get married in a week?"

He nods with a big proud smile, "Yes, me and Jane have talked through it and we're ready to get married"

I don't know what to even say anymore. What the fuck.

"Ok! Now break up and go back to your rooms!" Jane orders.

Luna proceeds to tell my dad and Jane how happy she is before leaving while Graham runs to his room. I sigh and go outside to check the mailbox.

I do this everyday to check for a letter back from Graham's dad. Graham is sort of angry at him for being so late to reply. He has stopped checking but I still have hope.

Today, walking to the mailbox feels like nothing but a reflex. My mind is chattering about what just happened. Our parents can't get married, there's no way. I don't wanna be step siblings with Graham.

I am forced to snap out of my thoughts when I realize that the mailbox isn't empty today, there's a letter in it. I pick it up and read the name. It's Graham's dad!

I skip back into the house and hastily climb up the stairs to Graham's room in an excited manner. This is amazing! After getting delivered bad news earlier today, I finally have some good news.
