It doesn't look good for you sis.

"Ebony!" Sarah screamed, walking into my room. "Mom wants you."

I sighed, irritated. I'm trying to get ready, and I would appreciate if I wasn't interrupted.

"It doesn't look good for you sis." She said.

"What?"

"Just go see for yourself."

I walked down the stairs to the living room. Was I in trouble? I don't remember doing anything.

"Mom?" I asked, when I walked into the room.

She turned. "Cancel the date."

"What?"

"Cancel the date." She said again.

"Why?"

"Because one of my three kids has stolen the necklace I had sitting on this table." She explained.

"And you think I did it?" I asked, shocked.

"I never said that."

"But you were thinking it. Why else would you be telling ME to cancel my date?"

"You have a history of stealing things Ebony."

"It was one time, AND I was five! Plus the Cashier let me keep the gum." I told her.

I can't believe that my own mother thinks I stole her money. Who leaves expensive jewelry sitting out on a table that everybody walks by anyway?

"Listen I don't know who took it, but until I get it back, no one leaves." She walked out of the room.

"Mother! I have wanted to go out with this boy since I was three. I can't just cancel on him!" I yelled.

"You can and you will. Unless you can give me my necklace."

"I can't do that, because I don't know where it is. Maybe you just misplaced it."

She shook her head. "Cancel the date Ebony."

Oh my God! She isn't going to let me go because she can't keep track of her stupid stuff. I can't stand this family.

"See ya sis." Sarah said, running down the stairs.

"We aren't allowed to leave." I told her.

"I am. I already told mom I didn't take it and she said I could." She smiled at me and went out the door.

So my mom believes Sarah when she says she didn't take anything, but she makes me cancel my date. How fair is that?

I went down the hall to Josh's room and opened the door.

"Hey! You could at least knock." He told me.

"Why are you afraid I'll catch you looking at you Playboy magazines. Josh I already know." I said.

"Don't tell mom."

"I've known for almost a year Josh. I'm not telling anybody. That's not what I'm here for anyway. Did you take the necklace mom had sitting on the table?"

"No. I already told mom I didn't."

"What did she say?" I asked.

"She said, and I quote, 'ok'"

"Ugh!"

"What?"

"She won't let me go on my date with Bently because she's convinced I took it. She won't admit it, but I know she's thinking it." I said all in one breath.

He looked at me like I was crazy. "Why don't you go on the date anyway? I mean you stay in your room most of the time, and if you're mad a mom, it's just an excuse to stay in there longer. She'll never know."

I thought about that. I did pretty much live in my room. The chances of her actually finding out would be slim. If she did find out though, I would be grounded for months. Yeah, that's not a very good idea.

"I can't do that. I'm not a very quiet person. I can't sneak." I told him.

"Well then you're going to have to cancel the date."

I sighed. I hate my mother at the moment.

"I guess you're right."

I went to my room and slammed the door. I picked up my phone and texted Bently I couldn't go and why. I felt like crying. I bet if Josh wanted to go somewhere she would let him. I felt a tear run down my cheek. My phone vibrated.

From Bently:
"Are you serious? Can you sneak out or something?"

I texted back.

"No. I'm sorry. I promise we'll go out another time."

I laid my phone down beside me on my bed. The tears were coming like crazy now. I wanted to go out with Bently so bad. My mom knew that, and still made me cancel for something stupid. My phone vibrated again.

From Bently:
"It's going to have to be a while though. Me and my brothers are going on a road trip tomorrow, and we'll be gone for the rest of the month."

I read that over and over. I think I just got the best idea ever. I replied.

"Can I come?"

I smiled. If I could go on this trip, I would be able to get away from, not just my mom, but everything about this family that has been bugging me.

From Bently:
"YES! If you really want to. We're leaving really early though so be ready."

I laughed at the excitement that was there. I can't believe he likes me that much.

"I'll be ready don't worry about it."

I sent the message and turned my phone off. I need to start packing. I have no idea where they are going, but I'll pack everything. I'm so ready to get away from this.
