This part goes back to "If these walls could talk - part one" - Mia & Siobhan at the house talking. I also realise that I am a little out of synch with the storylines as some of the talk about the ball came after some other storylines I was going to include. Bear with me, we will backtrack after this (somewhat short) chapter.
RECAP:
"Done." I held my little finger to do a pinkie promise. "As long as last year stays between us." I took my hand back slightly.
"Done." She linked her pinkie with mine over the table. "Last year was fun..." she relaxed a little. I smiled.
"If these walls could talk, right?" I smiled, remembering.
"They'd say, 'enough'." Siobhan smiled back.
................................................
I smirked at her, amused at the memory that just flashed through our minds. "We'd never have made it Shibs. Roger would have murdered us both." I smiled, "But your secret is also safe with me." Siobhan glanced at me nervously. "Vivian." I clarified. She looked embarrassed.
"How...?" she started to ask, but stopped, she didn't really know what she wanted to ask.
"I saw the looks between you both." I smiled and laughed. "Honestly, a girl just knows, you know?" she nodded. "I'll help you. We were friends, right?"
"Thank you." she replied, softly. I thought she was going to cry. "But how do you know?" she asked, nervously.
"Shibs, when you know you know." I smirked, "I can tell if a woman is into it. Hell, I could see you've got it bad for her before I caught a look at Viv's face." Siobhan blushed. I smiled. Siobhan wasn't that bad. If you knew her and had gotten past the barriers.
"Last halloween?" she asked.
"Well, I thought you'd been sent to satisfy my needs or keep me entertained at the ball," I shrugged. "I thought you were hot, you knew that."
Siobhan smiled, "I did..." I laughed. "What about Viv?"
"Vivian." I said, her name rolling off my tongue. "Shiv and Viv." I smiled. "Viv just screams gay to me. Her whole demeanour, her stance in the car park, the way she longingly watched you drive off..." I nodded and smiled. "The defence she gave me when I called you Shibby and when I said we were inseparable... She's got it bad. That's why I invited her to the ball."
"You did what???" Siobhan practically screamed.
"Invited. Her. To. The. Ball." I repeated, slowly.
Siobhan looked panicked, "What about Roger?"
"Fuck him." I scoffed. "Wait, you already do." I laughed. Noting Siobhan's look of horror on her face I made a mental note not to make that joke again. Oops. Straight face, Mia. "I mean, what about him?"
"Won't he notice something?"
"What? She's my friend and I've invited her to the ball. Roger's not delusional, he knows what I'm like. Don't tell me he didn't know all about the games Reece and I used to play."
"I guess." Siobhan agreed.
I gulped, wondering how much Roger knew about my relationship with Reece. I told him many times that Reece and I weren't in love. I didn't like him like that. He has other spies, he would know, surely... We played the game well. At least I did, Reece just followed me around like a puppy-dog and did as he was told. Yes, we had fun but this was never my end-game to be with Reece. "Why don't you just leave?"
"It's not that simple."
"Why?" I persisted.
"It's just not. Stop trying."
"Shibs, I know this man better than anyone. More than his own kids. I know all his secrets and trust me, there are plenty of skeletons in his closet that he wouldn't want exposed." I said, matter of factly, "trust me, I could do some serious damage to him if I wanted to. I was his spy and confidant for years. For example, right now, I know he's in cahoots with Janice again."
"Ugh. Janice." Siobhan rolled her eyes.
"Jealous?" I teased, wondering how much she knew about the woman.
Siobhan looked at me in disgust. "I don't think so, Mia, stop stirring things."
"You've got to admit, the woman's pretty hot..." I said.
"Mia, you find everyone 'hot'." Her eyes rolled again. "And no, I don't."
I grinned, "Just Viv then." Siobhan blushed again.
"I think we should leave this conversation now." Siobhan suggested. She was right. Time was ticking and I guess I was making her feel awkward.
"Yeah, I guess I'd better go. Marjorie is probably wondering why I took off and daddy dearest will be surely wanting to check up on you." I rolled my eyes. Siobhan pursed her lips and nodded slowly. "Think about things. You need to think about leaving. You can choose the road ahead, don't let me down."
I flicked the electrics back on in the house as I made my way out and then headed back to the nursery, it was almost home time. I promised Char dinner and a movie tonight since the kids were at their dad's for a few days...
.................................................
"Marjorie," I said as I stepped into the office, noticing Autumn sitting behind her computer. "Autumn." I said, acknowledging her.
"Mia," Autumn muttered, glancing at me, then quickly shifted her attention back to her computer.
"Where did you disappear to?" Marjorie asked.
"That's absolutely none of your business," I tutted and rolled my eyes at her. "but if you must know, I checked on Siobhan."
"You went to my father's house?" Autumn piped up, shocked.
I shrugged, "Yeah."
She flicked her eyes and went back to her computer, "hmm.."
Marjorie looked confused as hell. I loved to wind her up. "Well, this has been nice. Laters." I picked up the stuff I had left behind earlier and headed to the baby room to see if Char was done. I peeped through the windows and could see her putting the last few toys away. I smiled. She really was the most angelic woman, I was so lucky. She glanced up and saw me, a huge smiled crept onto her lips and she waved for me to come in.
"Hey baby!" I greeted her, conscious that Carly was still around here somewhere. "Nearly done?"
"Almost, Carly is just folding the blankets."
"Dinner and a movie out? Or a takeaway with some Netflix and chill? I asked casually.
Charlotte smirked, "the latter?"
I smirked, "Okay... good answer." I winked at her.
