More than we ever thought we'd have

The Halsteads had plans for this Saturday, Hailey had been promising Nevaeh that they would have a mother-daughter day and so today the two were planning on going shopping and getting their nails and toes done; Mia had been begging to go back to 'build a bear' after they took her a couple months ago so jay decided that he would take Mia and Ava to 'build a bear'.

After they got the kids dressed and ready for the day it was time for the family to go their separate ways for the day.

Hailey and Nevaeh started their day off by going to Haileys favorite coffee shop, as soon as they walked in, the cafe bustling with the aroma of pastries and the chatter of patrons.

"These are my favorite muffins ever!" Nevaeh exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She was a whirlwind of energy, her long, dark hair bouncing with every step.

Hailey nodded her head in agreement "I know why do you think we stopped here" They made their way up to the counter and looked at the pastries in the glass on display "What's your pick today?"

"Double chocolate chip," Nevaeh declared without hesitation.

Hailey nodded, "I think I might copy you there"  The baker, a kindly woman with a warm smile, greeted them. "What can I get for you two today?"

"Two double chocolate chip muffins, a caramel macchiato and then a hot chocolate please," Hailey replied.

While Hailey and Nevaeh were doing their own thing, Jay was on the way to build a bear with Mia and Ava. He had managed to keep it a surprise for Mia where they were going. He couldn't wait to see her face when they pulled up.

"daddy where we going?" Mia asked curiously from her carseat, jay looked in the rearview mirror "I already told you its a surprise you can't know until we get there" Mia sighed very dramatically, she was about to turn 4 and was developing quite the personality

As soon as they pulled Ito the parking lot Mia immediately recognized the building, "were at build bear!!" Mia yelled practically about to jump through the straps of her carseat. Jay smiled at her excitement.

"ava look daddy took us to build a bear" ava turned her little head and giggled as a reaction of her big sisters excitement. Jay unhooked mia out her carseat first letting her out the truck. "mia hold my hand" he said taking her hand as they made their way to the other side of the truck to get ava out.

He unhooked ava making sure mia kept a hand on his leg, the job had made him and Hailey quite paranoid when it came to the kids. He grabbed ava out the carseat and put her on his hip. He locked the truck before grabbing mia's hand. She practically dragged him into the store.

After they finished their drinks and their muffins Hailey and Nevaeh decided to go get their nails done. The nail salon had the glittery wallpaper, the miniature candy bar station, and a whole wall dedicated to nail art.

Nevaeh was practically in heaven as soon as she walked in,  Hailey decided to get her fingernails a light nude color while Nevaeh wanted to get a light pink.

As the nail technician worked her magic, Hailey took the opportunity to ask Nevaeh about school, she'd been worried about her since the whole bullying incident. "How's school going, Nevaeh?"

Nevaeh's smile faltered slightly. "It's okay," she said, her voice quieter than usual, Hailey knew that tone. "Are those kids still giving you a hard time?" Nevaeh hesitated, then nodded sadly. "They keep saying that I don't fit into our family and that y'all aren't my parents and all this stuff"
