The Hawkeye weight room was booming with music, but the only two that were in there was Kate and Caitlin. It was the 31st, meaning New Years Eve. However, the two woke up early and went for a lift anyway. It was a therapeutic affair.

"Did you see you know who is throwing another all athlete thing for New Years Eve?" asked Kate, after one rep of deadlifts. Caitlin looked over from her position of a crunch.

"Yeah, I saw," said Caitlin, now flat on her back.

"We should go," suggested Kate, looking at her best friend's face for an expectant expression.

"Yeah, we should. I don't see why not," said Caitlin, now standing to go deadlift with Kate. Kate was looking at her in surprise. "What?"

"No, I just thought you wouldn't have agreed to going out," chuckled Kate, standing aside to let Caitlin lift.

Caitlin laughed. "Why? Because I've been just studying a lot lately for my new classes?"

"You call that studying? You are rotting in bed on your computer!" laughed Kate, as Caitlin started doing her reps. "And don't lie."

"Ugh, you're right," sighed Caitlin, breathing a hit hard after her set. "But I'm agreeing to going this time. I'm guessing it's at the frat again?"

Kate nodded, then a smirk turned up at her face. Caitlin looked at her in confusion.

"Hopefully, you know who doesn't chase you down this time," teased Kate, getting into a laughing fit. Caitlin wasn't amused, but Kate laughed.

"Ha ha, so funny," said Caitlin with a straight face, and Kate just continued to laugh.

"I don't understand how you don't like chocolate, Kenny," said Charlotte, taking a bit of a chocolate croissant whilst Kendall ate a strawberry muffin.

"I just don't like the taste, it's just too much. I'd rather honestly have fruity stuff over chocolate," shrugged Kendall, taking another bite of her strawberry muffin.

"That's a heinous hot take," said Charlotte, but smirked upon realization of what Kendall said. "But of course you love fruity stuff. Takes one to know one."

Kendall looked at Charlotte with an incredulous look, her jaw dropping slightly.

"Charlotte! You're crazy," laughed Kendall, now sipping on her iced water. Charlotte sat there giggling at her best friend. "I hope we can go into the New Year with minimal bullying."

Charlotte only laughed along with Kendall, then her eyes went wide.

"Oh my gosh, what are you going to wear to the New Year's Eve social tonight?" asked Charlotte, making Kendall purse her lips.

"So, actually, I wasn't going to go..." said Kendall, with an awkward and nervous laugh. Charlotte gasped.

"No, Kenny, you need to go with me! I swear it'll be fun."

Kendall didn't really want to go to the all athlete social tonight. She wanted to just tuck in bed, count down to midnight by herself. She wasn't ready for big social events yet, and she scolded herself for moping around as if she suffered a real break up. But it for sure felt like one.

"But-"

"No buts, it's time to party and get out of your apartment," said Charlotte, now shooting Kendall puppy eyes. She knew Kendall always broke when she gave the puppy eyes. "Party for no reason! Other than, you know, 2024 coming in."
