Two years after the events of the Neo Egoist League...

The World Cup.

The single most sought after trophy in the world.

Millions of people watched each game. And for the final match, people turned out in the hundreds of millions. It was the single biggest game of the year - hell, it would be the most watched game for the next four years.

In Japan especially, multiple viewership records would be broken, on all news channels. Social media would be flooded with exulted comments, heated discussions, and millions upon millions of people cheering for their country. Soccer clubs all around the country would see a new influx of players, and the future of Japanese soccer would change forever.

And in the arena itself.

A hundred thousand people in the stands. The roar of the crowd could be physically felt, soundwaves buffering the very air itself. And all over the world, people watched as for the first time, Japanese hands lifted the trophy.

"With an electrifying performance from Y/N L/N, the winners of the PIFA World Cup are none other than... Japan!"

Y/N stood in the centre. One hand cradling the bottom of the trophy, the other supporting the side, he raised it into the air above his head. Cameras locked onto his face, staring up at the golden trophy.

He didn't think about the other team, collapsed on their side of the pitch.

He didn't think about his past.

He didn't think about his family.

He didn't think about the crowds of people cheering for him.

Because he was... happy. He was accepted. He was proud, he was hopeful, he was grateful. He'd been brave, he'd been strong. He was confident, he was calm, he was relaxed. He was worthy of the trophy.
