___________________________________He leaned in close to my ear and said "bhuuu" with a playful little chuckle. I couldn't help but laugh, his childish antics dispelling some of the tension that still lingered from our intimate moment.
"Bhuuu yourself," I replied, trying to imitate his tone,
"Aap hi ho jisne mujhe is tarah chipkar dara diya, bhai-sa"
(You're the one who scared me sneaking up on me like that, bhai-sa.)
He pulled away with a mock gasp of offense. "I was just trying to give my little sister a hug,"
he said, pouting exaggeratedly. "And you call that sneaking? I'll have you know, I was walking perfectly normally and casually."
I rolled my eyes at his overly innocent act, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
"Bhuuu!"
There was another sudden shout in my ear, and I nearly jumped out of my skin. This time, the voice was higher pitched and childish, and I immediately recognized it as Ruhanika, who had a habit of sneaking up on people and scaring them.
"Rajkumari Ruhanika," I chided, turning around to face her. "Stop scaring me like that! You're going to give me a heart attack"
Bhai-sa asked "where you disappeared to earlier you seemed to vanish into thin air and no one could find you for a while."
I chuckled nervously, my mind immediately jumping to the events that had just occurred. "I was just stepping out for some fresh air," I lied, trying to sound casual. "It was getting a little warm in there."
Yuvraj walked up to us, still a bit of a sulky expression on his face from his previous conversation with Ruhanika. He put an arm around my waist and said, "I took my Ardhangini for a little stroll," his voice laced with subtle possessiveness.
Ruhanika chimed in, her voice still bright and cheerful. "Jiju-sa I was just joking when I said I was going to take Kasika with me," she said to yuvraj.
My brother joined in the conversation, a smirk on his face as he said, "I could take her away, she's my sister after all."
The words were said in a half-joking manner, but I could sense the underlying protectiveness in his tone. He had always been overprotective of me since childhood, and it seemed that hadn't changed even now that I was married.
