The very next day at Iris's place!

Iris stirred awake and pulled back the windows, only to quickly shut them again as a chill swept through the room. The cold was more biting than she had expected, making her shiver.

"Look at all this snow! We should totally ditch class today!" Iris exclaimed.
"Absolutely! I can't muster the energy to go to university," Alira chimed in.
"Girl, you're always looking for an excuse to be lazy!" Sienna shot back.
"Let's not start bickering now!" Iris interjected.

Anasia and Ena, were still snuggled in bed under a warm blanket, watching the scene unfold. Seeing the two of them like that made everyone even lazier.
Given the frosty weather, they all agreed to skip the lecture.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Iris opened the door to reveal a figure enveloped in a chunky sweater and muffler, their face nearly obscured. It took Iris mere seconds to recognize it was no one other than her aunt, who stood poised to share some intriguing news.
Her aunt hurried into the room and exclaimed, "I have something to tell you all!"

The group exchanged confused looks, surprised by her enthusiasm despite the frigid weather.

Breaking the momentary silence, she continued, "Your uncle and I are heading to India today for attending some wedding! We'll be gone for about three to four days. We and your parents decided not to bring you along since you just started university, and missing classes would be a big setback!"
"But don't worry, you can always contact us and reach out to our neighbors if you need anything; they're really great!" she added cheerfully.

The friends shared delighted glances, realizing they would have a few days of freedom without anyone to scold them.

"Don't worry, Aunt! We're smart, mature plus responsible and can handle ourselves and the house just fine. You go and enjoy yourselves!" Iris replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Yeah, yeah, I know how responsible you all are!" her aunt expressed her concerns while making a sarcastic face.
"I just hope the troublemakers don't get into trouble while I'm gone, but I trust you all-just don't let me down!" she cautioned.
"We promise we won't!" the five friends chimed in unison, bursting into laughter at the fact that they all said the same thing at the exact same time.

With that, Iris's aunt left to pack up her belongings.
Later that evening, she and her uncle departed for their flight, waving goodbye to the group.

"We have our freedom now, but that means we have to cook for ourselves!" Alira exclaimed, already feeling tired at the thought.
"But in a way, it's for the better!" she added.
"By the time aunt gets back, we'll have learnt to manage all this on our own, so we won't be a burden," Sienna suggested.
"Exactly! I felt bad that she was cooking for all five of us every day," Anasia agreed.
"Honestly, it felt like we were taking advantage of her kindness since she treated us like her own kids while we did nothing to help," Iris said.
"It's amazing that we're all on the same page and understanding these things; I love it!" Ena chimed in.
"Alright, let's hit the books, then we can watch a movie and plan our dinner," Alira advised.
