The fluorescent lights of the hospital flickered above Kyky as he sat in the waiting room, his body numb, his clothes still stained with Khalil's blood.

The sterile smell of antiseptic invaded his nostrils, and the faint beeping of monitors filled the air, but everything felt distant, muffled. His leg bounced anxiously, arms gripping the plastic chair, his mind replaying the night over and over.

The sound of the gunshots, Khalil's last words, the feel of his brother's blood still warm in his hand-it was all a blur, but too real to escape.

Emeri sat beside him, for moral support. She didn't know Khalil or Kyky like that, but she felt the weight of it all. She hadn't said a word since they arrived, just trying to process.

"Kyky! Oh my God, baby, are you okay?" Kyliyah rushed in, grabbing him in a tight hug, her voice shaky. "Is he okay?" Her eyes searched his face for any hope.

Kyky shook his head, throat too tight to speak. He couldn't meet her gaze, feeling like he was drowning in sorrow.

Kehlen stepped in next, pulling him into another embrace. "I love you, Kyky. He gon' be okay, right? God got him," she tried to reassure him, but her voice cracked as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"What the fuck happened, Kyky?" Scar semi-yelled, anger boiling in his veins. His voice was tight, shaking with barely contained rage.

Scar loved Kyky and Khalil like brothers. As the oldest, he felt the need to protect them, and now that he had failed to keep Khalil safe, he was battling with his demons.

Kyky looked up, mouth opening, but no words came out. What could he say? That he'd watched his mud brother bleed out right in front of him while he tried everything to hold him together, but it wasn't enough?

"I... I tried," Kyky choked out, voice barely a whisper, tears brimming in his eyes. "I-I tried, Scar... but he... I couldn't."

Zay walked in behind Scar, his face void of anger. He wore a mask of numbness, his mind racing to catch up with the reality crashing down around them.

He stood a few feet away, staring down at the floor like it was gonna give him answers. "They say anything yet?" Zay asked quietly, almost as if he were scared to know.

Just then, the hospital doors swung open, and in walked Khalil's mom, Alicia. Her eyes were wild with desperation. "Kyky, please tell me my baby okay!" Her voice cracked, panic lacing every word. "Please, that's all I need to hear!" She sobbed, and Zay rushed forward, catching her before she fell.

"I-" Kyky started, but he was cut off by a nurse entering the waiting room.

"Family of Khalil Mason?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room.

"Yes, I'm his mother! Please, please tell me my baby's okay!" Alicia cried, her body trembling, hope slipping through her fingers. Khalil was her only child, the light of her life, and she had just lost her husband not long ago. The thought of losing Khalil too was unbearable.

Kyky's heart sank as he watched the nurse's expression change, her lips pressing into a thin line. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this..." she began, but her voice faded into the background, swallowed by a suffocating silence.

Alicia's face went pale, the color draining from her cheeks. "No... No! You can't say that! Not my baby!" she screamed, her voice breaking as tears flowed like rivers down her face. Zay held her tighter, his grief twisting his features into something painful as he tried to comfort her.

The nurse looked down, pain etched on her face. "We did everything we could. He lost a lot of blood, and we couldn't stabilize him. I'm so sorry for your loss."

"Man, fuck!" Ke'shawn yelled, throwing his phone against the wall, shattering the tense atmosphere. Kyliyah and Kehlen rushed over to hug Kyky, their cries echoing in the sterile room.

It was always Kyky and Khalil against the world. They did everything together-from being broke to getting money, from hustling to dreaming big. They fought together, schemed together, got locked up together. It was always "fuck blood"-they were brothers in every sense of the word.

Kyky felt the reality of it all crush him. It hurt to think he'd never hear Khalil's laugh again, never see them bright-ass braces light up the room. He'd never get to hear his undeniable love for Kyliyah, never get to share another wild story from the streets. It ached to be alive while Khalil was gone.

"My nigga can't be gone, man," Kyky sobbed, tears streaming down his face. Kyliyah, Kehlen, and Emeri did their best to comfort him, but the weight of loss hung heavy in the air.

"Ky you hea' me? Khalil wouldn't want you to break like this," Scar said, his voice thick with emotion. "He'a want you to keep grinding, to live yo' life for him."

Kyky looked up, desperation in his eyes. "How? How am I supposed to do that when he gon'? How I supposed ta keep goin' knowin' my brotha died in my arms? That shit stuck with me fo life ain't no fo' gettin' that Scar."

Scar's face softened, the anger giving way to raw grief. "You do it for him, Ky. You keep his name alive, 'Get rich for all that nigga boppas.' Ke'shawn cracked a smile quoting a line that Khalil always would say.

But in that moment, the room felt empty. Everyone knew the bond Kyky and Khalil shared; if you saw Kyky, you knew Khalil wasn't too far behind. It was always like that.

A heavy silence settled over the room, and Kyky felt a deep ache in his chest like a piece of him had been ripped away. He wanted to scream, to fight, to make it all go away. But all he could do was stand there, frozen, tears streaming down his face as he stared at the floor, unable to grasp the reality that had just shattered their lives.

The waiting room, once filled with hope and anticipation, was now a cavern of sorrow, every heartbeat a reminder of the brother they had lost.

His day one was gone, leaving a wound on his heart that would never heal. And as they stood together, crumbled and broken, they all knew the truth: the streets had claimed another life, and nothing would ever be the same again.

it should've been Zay 💔💔💔💔💔💔.
