Chapter 54: Egghead, The Future Island

The day after the confrontation with Big Mom's crew, (Y/N) had recovered all his strength to continue his daily training. His battle with Smoothie had taught him the effort needed to rival Big Mom's power. At the end of the day's training, he was warned by Stussy that Princess Enhedua had woken up, so he went to see her to have a chat.

Enhedua hadn't been so suspicious of (Y/N) since she found out about his battle with one of Ishtar's Guardians and Big Mom's crew. This confirmed that he was not in her enemy's camp, even if she was still wary of the pirate's ambitions.

(Y/N): "I'm glad you're fine, but I'd like you to answer my questions. First of all, I want to know why you were on that island where I met you."

Enhedua: "Y-You must already know... I-I fled from the Uruk Kingdom, but my ship was wrecked at sea and I was washed up on the shores of the island. I-I was waiting for the right moment to escape on another ship to an island far from Uruk."

(Y/N): "You're a princess, why did you leave your life of luxury in the palace of Uruk? I want to know your story."

Enhedua: "I-it's not easy for me to talk about it, but I'll try..."

Enhedua's story was not that of an ordinary princess. In the past, the Queen ruled over the Uruk Kingdom, where her three children lived: Ereshkigal, Inana and Gilgamesh. Ereshkigal was the eldest of the siblings and heir to the throne of the country, but his sister Inana was jealous because she dreamed of being queen, while the youngest of the family, Gilgamesh, dreamed instead of becoming a soldier respected by the people.

The people lived in peace until the day of Inana's coup. With the help of the World Government, she executed her parents for treason and proclaimed herself the new Queen. To mark the start of a new era, she changed her name to Ishtar, like the First Queen of Uruk 800 years ago.

Gilgamesh managed to escape with his elder sister and planned a rebellion with the allies still loyal to the former queen to eliminate Ishtar. During the years of preparation for Gilgamesh's rebellion, Ereshkigal fell in love with a former Uruk general who had betrayed Ishtar to follow the rebels. The two married and had a daughter called Enhedua, who ate a fruit that could control the wind through poems.

A few years after Enhedua's birth, Queen Ishtar managed to capture the little family. She executed Ereshkigal with her husband, despite Gilgamesh's failed attempt to rescue them. Thanks to the powerful fruit of Enhedua, Ishtar decided to spare her and adopted her as her own daughter. In reality, the girl was just a tool for the queen. She locked her up in the palace and hid the existence of the princess from the rest of the world so that no one would get her power.

Enhedua: "I-I grew up hating Ishtar. S-She killed my parents and stole my freedom, so I decided to run away to escape her tyranny."

(Y/N): "I'm sorry to hear that, your life wasn't easy... What's your goal now? You're the true heir to the throne of the kingdom, do you intend to become the next queen?"

Enhedua: "N-No, I'm not interested in being queen. M-My uncle and Ishtar are fighting each other in a war for the crown, but I'm not interested in that any more. I-I just want to get away from Ishtar and regain the freedom that was taken from me..."

(Y/N): "Very well, if that's your choice then I'll respect it. I want you to know that I've decided to help Gilgamesh become King of Uruk, but I promise to defeat Ishtar and avenge your parents. For now, we'll go to Egghead where you can stay safe if you don't want to return to Uruk."

Enhedua: "I-I'll accompany you to Egghead, then bid you farewell..."
