As Lisa and Rose sat in her apartment, the two were deep in discussion over the birthday party preparations. Lisa wanted everything to be perfect for the occasion, and with Rose’s help, she was determined to make it a memorable event.
Lisa: "Okay, so I've invited most of our business partners and family friends. But I feel like something’s missing. Any ideas?"
Rose: "Hmm… Maybe we could have a theme? Something elegant but also fun. It’s not every day you turn twenty-five, and with Haruto’s introduction to the business, it’s an extra big night."
Lisa: "Ooh, I like that. How about a classic black-and-gold theme? Sophisticated, but still celebratory."
Rose: "Perfect! And we should book the best decorator. I know a guy—he worked on one of our firm’s events in Seoul, and it was stunning."
Lisa: "Yes, let’s get him. Also, I need to talk to some of the caterers. Maybe we can mix Thai cuisine with some Western dishes?"
Rose: "Absolutely. A little bit of everything so everyone feels welcome. Now, have you called my dad yet? I know he’d be thrilled to come."
Lisa: "I actually called him this morning. Wanted to personally invite him. We had a nice chat. And he even reminded me that I haven’t been practicing my golf skills." Lisa laughed, shaking her head.
Rose: "Classic Dad." She chuckled. "Did he say if he’s going to be able to make it?"
Lisa: "Yep, he confirmed! It’s been a while since he and my dad caught up. They’ll probably spend most of the night talking business."
Just as they wrapped up, Rose’s phone buzzed, and she saw her father was calling.
Mr. Park: “Rose, it’s so good to hear your voice! I know I’ve been swamped with work lately.”
Rose: “Dad! It’s okay, I know how busy you are. I’m just glad you guys are coming for Lisa’s party. It’ll be nice to have some family here with me.”
Mr. Park: “Of course, we wouldn't miss it. And you know… it’s been a while since we’ve discussed some family plans.”
Rose (slightly puzzled): “Oh? Well, we’ll talk about that when you get here, right?”
Mr. Park: “Exactly. But for now, just enjoy helping Lisa with the preparations. I can tell this is going to be a wonderful celebration.”
After ending the call, Rose looked over at Lisa, who had a smirk on her face.
Lisa: “He didn’t spill anything, did he? He looked so secretive on the video call.”
Rose: “Not at all. Just your typical Dad chat—sounded like he has something planned, but he wouldn’t say what. I guess we’ll find out soon.”
Later that evening, Marco sat in his study and pulled out his phone to FaceTime his best friend, Ji-young Kim. Jennie’s father answered with a smile, and soon enough, Mrs. Kim joined them, her cheerful expression lighting up the screen.
Marco: "Ji-young, my friend! I was just thinking, it’s been too long since we all got together.”
Mr. Kim: "I know, Marco! And I've heard about the big birthday coming up for Lisa. How’s she doing with all the planning?”
Marco: "She’s got it all under control! She’s grown so much, Ji-young. And Haruto’s about to officially join the business. It’s a proud moment for our family."
Mrs. Kim: "You’ve raised them well, Marco. We can’t wait to celebrate with you. And Jennie’s thrilled to visit Thailand. She hasn’t stopped talking about it since she heard from Lisa."
