I recently found something in KotLC that's really getting on my nerves.
In Everblaze, when Sophie, Grady, and Edaline are waiting to see who the new Councilor will be, they eat "mooncakes," described as "warm petit fours...which taste...like fudge dipped in marshmallow and then drizzled with chocolate cream." (Page 432 in my copy of Everblaze, which might not be yours because a lot of my KotLC books are the British copies even though I'm not British. I don't know how I accidentally got books from a different country, but whatever. It isn't even relevant right now.)
Well, mooncakes are a real thing already. They're a Chinese dessert that does not taste like chocolate or marshmallow. They are made of baked dough and usually filled with red bean paste or lotus seed paste. I've never had mooncakes, but I want to try them sometime. If I ever do, I might publish a Part Two to this listing all the ways real mooncakes are different than Shannon's "mooncakes."
They look like this:
This is super annoying to me. Shannon Messenger should've done her research and made sure mooncakes weren't already a real thing before inventing a new version that was totally different.
Shannon, if you're reading this (which you probably aren't because I heard somewhere that authors don't read fanfiction so they can't be accused of stealing ideas), do your research! And since I doubt she's reading this, if you, the person who is reading this (If you aren't a person, I'm sorry for making that assumption. Could you please do this anyways?), ever meet Shannon in person, I would appreciate it if you told her "Do your research." Maybe if you want to be extra cool and earn my semi-undying loyalty, you could pull up a printout of a bunch of real mooncake recipes and mooncake pictures and hand it all to Shannon.
I added an external link to a real recipe for mooncakes so you can read it over and see just how different Shannon's version is.

FanfictionI just thought a bunch about KotLC and came up with some crazy ideas. And theories. And rants. And "Okay, this kind of fits but I hate it so bad." Also me giving AI KotLC questions and watching it be horribly wrong. And some cool fanfics I've found...
