In the story, artificial lifeforms known as "Chemy" were created using the most advanced alchemy techniques. These creatures, modeled after things found in the natural world—like grasshoppers—were carefully stored in Ride Chemy Cards. However, all the Chemies were accidentally released into the wild, setting the world into chaos.

In the kingdom of Earlshide, Merlin Wolford, once hailed as a national hero for his power and achievements, chose to live a quiet life. He secluded himself in the rural woods, dedicating his time to raising an orphan he had rescued. This boy, Shin, displayed unparalleled talent in alchemy, magic casting, and martial arts, much to Merlin's constant amazement.
On Shin's 15th birthday, however, it became apparent that while he excelled in combat skills, he lacked basic social awareness, common sense, and a sense of responsibility. To help him mature, Shin was enrolled in the kingdom's Magic Academy to learn and grow alongside other teenagers.

However, Shin's life was anything but ordinary. Shortly after arriving at the academy, he was entrusted with the Gotchardriver and tasked with a mission to recollect the Chemies scattered across the world. Some Chemies are friendly and compatible with humans. If they resonate with a good heart, Shin can fuse with them and transform into Kamen Rider Gotchard.
However, Chemies influenced by human malice transform into dangerous monsters called Malgam, threatening humanity's safety. Thus begins a tale that explores the nature of good and evil, two sides of the same coin.
Will Shin as Gotchard be able to "collect them all," or will his mistakes lead to the world's destruction?
