hiraeth - part ninety-six
FADING LIGHT»»——⍟——««
Taking Bulma's advice, Y/n took a shower, washing away Goku's scent that he had practically burned into her skin. It had taken her longer than usual, only thanks to her fiance sitting outside the shower curtain, whining and saying that couples should shower together, something that Y/n was not allowing, not yet at least. They had just become an official couple less than twenty-four hours ago, becoming engaged no less, Goku moved far too fast for Y/n. This was her way of slowing things down. Sure, they had a situation-ship before, and already knew next to everything about each other, but that didn't mean Y/n was okay with flying through the steps of a relationship, like Goku was. With their new engagement, this was Y/n's way of taking smaller steps. Besides, how did Y/n know that Goku hadn't changed in some way since before she left? He could have a completely new side to his personality that she didn't know yet.
"I was thinking," Goku spoke, his voice slightly muffled by the sound of the rushing water, despite being right on the other side of the curtain. Y/n's attention moved from the scrubbing of her scalp to his silhouette, watching as he mindlessly walked around the shared bathroom. "What kind of wedding would you like? I'm not really good at planning this kind of stuff."
Y/n's hands paused in her hair, Goku's words settling within her. It wasn't something she had thought about until now, but they would have to start planning it. Y/n hummed, staring up at the ceiling, letting the water rush down her back. She didn't know much about weddings either. If she had ever been to one, she couldn't remember it.
"I wouldn't know anything about it," Y/n muttered, still deep within thought. "Actually, you would know more than me, since you've already been married once. What was your first wedding like?"
"It was okay, I guess. At first, I thought weddings and marriages were a type of food," Goku chuckled at the memory. "It was a small wedding, and all of the guests were from Chi-Chi's side of the family. I didn't know to invite anyone. The food was pretty good, so I had fun."
Of course the food was the main event for Goku. Y/n couldn't help the smile that curled on her face, rolling her eyes. He was the same as ever, a man who lived solely in the moment.
"But I don't want it to be the same as last time, that would just feel wrong," Goku continued. "I want to invite all of our friends and family, I want your family to be with you. I'd want it somewhere special to us too, but I wouldn't know where that would be..."
There weren't many places on Earth that felt special to Y/n anymore, if any. Capsule Corporation was the majority of her memories on Earth, and it could be called special for herself, but not so much for Goku. He lived here, so what would be the point in holding their wedding here? Not only that, but the mere idea of inviting Y/n's blood relatives caused a sinking feeling in her chest, as if her heart were plummeting into the depths of her body. She had no memories of them, whatsoever. She had no information about them, and couldn't even drum up a name from the mazes of her memories.
"I don't really have anywhere special, nor do I remember my family..." Y/n muttered, staring at the wet tiled floor beneath her feet. It was times like this that reminded her that to herself and the world around her, she was just an empty shell. The person that once inhabited this body was gone, and it was as if she were nothing but a marionette, her puppeteer being the broken shards of the spirits that were once her.
Goku could immediately sense the shift in her mood, already knowing full well what was going through her mind, even if he wasn't touching her. Furrowing his brows, he let out a small puff of air. "There must be something we can do to bring back your memories."
