So uh, I got sick this weekend and my brain churned this out instead of your other request (which is like 80% done, I promise).
This is also Sage of Truth Shadow Milk Cookie. Just to make that clear. Might be confusing if you don't realize that...

The Spire library is always silent at night. All the actual scholars have gone to bed by this time, but (C/F) Cookie would always linger among the dark shelves hoping to prolong the time until she inevitably needed rest.

In a place usually bustling with Desserts, debating knowledge and philosophy, it was peaceful to come when it was dark and the silence felt so loud that not even the books could stifle it. There was no one to speak to her harshly or tell her to be quiet, and considering half the Desserts here already pretend she doesn't exist, it's not like it's hard to sneak in and read—so long as she stays quiet.

So on a night as uninteresting as any other, (C/F) Cookie wandered the edge of the library, looking for something to read. Regrettably, all of these were things she had read before, and reading them again does not sound appealing. Sighing, she finally sets down her lantern and removes a scroll from the shelves and carefully pulls it open read. Her eyes pass over writing that is as boring as she imagined it to be and she sighs yet again. If only her mind didn't feel so wound up at this time of night...

A familiar knock pattern on the bookcase behind her startles her out of her thoughts.

Ah, well, that's signal two... she must have missed the first one. But that means...

"Oh where, oh where, could my little star student have run off to?" The over exaggerated voice cuts through the silence, sounding just as sarcastic as usual.

There's signal three. So it is this game again... Seems the Great Sage wants her to find a new 'hiding spot'.

Abandoning her lantern, (C/F) Cookie tiptoes around the nearby shelves. As she silently creeps through the dark rows, she checks the book titles and positions to ensure she knows where she is so as not to wander in circles.

If he's feeling nice enough to give her a chance to 'hide', even after she missed his light nearby, she better take it. This will keep them both entertained for a moment, and hopefully help with her restlessness.

"She wasn't in her bed, nor was she in the kitchens... so naturally that leaves only her third favorite hiding spot! The back shelves." The Sage calls. His over exaggerated footsteps are dampened by the books.

"Ha ha..." She could still remember the first night he played his strange version of hide and seek with her.

It was far from the first time she had snuck back into the library after hours, so a second nearby light had startled her a great deal, especially when she could so clearly see who it belonged to.

"Master Shadow Milk Cookie...!" (C/F) Cookie had scrambled to her feet. The playful smile on his face was only adding to her unease as she had no idea why he was saying nothing—doing nothing but smile at her. That was probably the first time she had even spoken to him.

"Oh, don't mind me. Heh..." His grin had widened as he knocked his staff against the shelf in the pattern she could now easily identify him from. "Nothing wrong with a bit of late night reading."

Had she known him well then, she might have realized the game he was playing, but all she really did was stare as he turned and left, making not a sound as he glided over the floor.

She had waited a good long time to see if he'd come back, and assumed he would not when he didn't immediately do so. Being unaware of his fondness for games, or even that she had been roped into one of them, put (C/F) Cookie at a disadvantage. Well... more of one as his rules are never fair to his opponents.
