You Can Run! But You Can't Hide!

Ch. 4

(Gwendolyn's POV)

After I got off the bus and got A'nyia from Mrs. Robert's house I told A'nyia to pack her bags for a week I had to get to my mother's house in Virginia and find another job cause I'm not going back to the White House. Michelle is insane if she thinks I'm coming back there.

"Mommy I have school tomorrow and why are we going to Grandma's". A'nyia asks me for the second time.

"Because baby mommy's gonna get a new job and a better apartment then what we have. We're moving okay"? I say putting clothing into our suitcase.

"But mommy I don't wanna go, I wanna stay here with my friends".She said and starts crying and I start to cry too.

"Baby mommy's only trying to protect you okay please". I say bending down to her level.

"But I'm gonna miss my daddy and Mrs. Robert, and Kate". She says crying and I cave in.

"Okay, we're gonna stay baby, Okay"? We're gonna stay. I say but I'm still gonna get a new job.

After we unpack the bags, A'nyia is coloring and watching Dragon Tails. I'm in the kitchen going through the classifieds.

There was this job in the needed a waitress at Barnes that paid 200$ a week that's enough money to put more food in the house and pay rent before it gets here. This could be a fresh start for us it pays more often than the White House so this will do perfectly and I won't be getting home so late anymore.

After I called Barnes and they said I had the job but I won't start to tell Tuesday which is two days away from now. This gonna be good for me and even greater for A'nyia.

I make us some noodles that can go with the sandwiches and apples we didn't eat.

After we ate I gave A'nyia a bath and put her to bed. She has school tomorrow and she doesn't like to get up in the mornings.

( Skipping To Morning )

"Okay baby if you get off the bus and there's a car following you go you do what"? I say smiling.

"I call for help and if it doesn't come then I use the pepper spray". She says getting in line for the school bus.

"I love you baby". I say waving.

"To the moon and back"! She shouts stepping onto the bus.

"To the moon and back". I whisper to myself as the bus drove past me.

When I get home I do some serious cleaning. After I finish cleaning I sit and watch the news. 30 minutes passed and there was a knock at the door. I didn't expect Maria or Mrs. Robert to come over. The knock became a heavy bamming. I got up and turned off the T.V. and went to the door to see who it was. It was a man in a suit, I opened the door.

"May I help you, sir"? I ask confused as to why he's here at my house.

"Are you Ms. Gwendolyn Brown"? He asked.

"Yes that's me is something wrong"? "Is A'nyia okay"? I ask getting worried I didn't ask her if she took her allergy medicine.

"No your gonna have to come with me, ma'am". He said. Then I realize that he was from the White House. I tried to close the door but he pushed it open and he picked me up and carried me to a black Jaguar with dark tinted windows. I was screaming and kicking in the backseat.

"Look lady shut up cause this car is soundproof so no one can hear or see you". He said looking at me in the mirror at me. But his words didn't stop me. That's when he stops the car and injected something into my arm. My eyes started to get heavy then everything went black.

I woke up on the floor of an office I knew it was Michelle because it had her desk plate on it.

I got up but I was too weak to stand on my own so I had to hold onto a chair to support myself from falling. I heard the door open.

"So you thought you can leave me that easily"? Make a run somewhere else and think I wouldn't find you? I hear Michelle say.
