100 years later.
The handsome man with slicked-back black hair and captivating midnight blue eyes, sitting behind a big mahogany desk, pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "What is it, Mariah?" he asked no one in the room.
However, right after he asked the question, a figure materialized in the room. It was a beautiful young woman with long, deep brown hair and beautiful big blue eyes. She giggled and hugged him from behind his chair. "I can't fool you, can I?" she asked, her voice was sing-song like that it would cause people to turn and look at her twice when she spoke.
"You need to practice more," Asher said, caressing her arms that were hugging his neck.
"That's what you always say," Mariah hissed and left him to sit on the desk in front of him. "I heard the news. The Claymans had passed down the company to their grandson. Wow, if only they knew it's still the same person circulating. Why fool the humans so, big brother?"
"Why come to disturb my peace, little sister?" Asher asked with a raised eyebrow and she chuckled and got down from the desk, walking around to settle on the chair opposite. Asher watched her with his hawk-like eyes and knew instantly that something was wrong. "What happened?"
Mariah sighed and glanced at him with her big dewy eyes and smiled sadly. "It's the same dream."
"Same man?"
Mariah nodded.
"What does he want?"
"Never tells me."
"Have you ever asked him?"
"Always. But he will only smile at me while looking at me with his golden eyes."
"Golden eyes?" Asher frowned, "I thought you said it was black?"
"That's what I thought but a few days ago now, I have been seeing him in the garden instead of the darkness of my room. His eyes glow with the sun. Whenever the sun reflects in his eyes, it glows with a golden hue."
"He still has white hair?"
"As white as snow. Long and constantly flowing around him."
"And you are sure you have never seen him in real life before?"
"Asher, I haven't. His face is not something anyone can forget. He is so beautiful; I have never seen a man as beautiful as him."
"And he has started appearing to you in the dream from your sixteenth birthday."
Mariah nodded.
Asher exhaled and bit his lips. "It's been a hundred years, Mariah, don't you think it's time you tell mom?"
"And have her worried? She is already worried enough that I haven't found my mate. I can't add more on her shoulders. The thing is that if he can just tell me his name, the world is computer-wise now. I mean, my brother runs the biggest technology company in the world. Finding someone online won't be hard."
Asher said nothing. He can feel her frustration and his too. It had taken her four years to tell him on her twentieth birthday and ever since that time, it's been just the two of them. He had even tried tracking down every man with white long hair but she always said they were not the one. Every time he looks at her, it hurts him that he can't do this one thing for her, find the man that has been haunting her dream for a hundred years now.
He exhaled softly and closed his eyes, "I'm sorry, Mariah."
"Don't," she smiled at him while shaking her head, "you have been the biggest support I have ever had. I'm lucky to have you, Asher."
He smiled at that, "I'm lucky to have you too." They both chuckled but right at that moment, Asher felt a sharp pain deep in his soul. His face scrunched up in pain that Mariah teleported right to his side instantly, wondering what was wrong with him.
"Asher, Asher!" she called, her eyes welling up in tears as she wondered what to do. Just as she decided to teleport home with him, Asher looked up and his eyes widened. "What, what is it?"
"That scent," Asher whispered as a tantalizing scent wafted into his nostrils. He stood up, the sharp pain in his chest already forgotten as he walked towards his office door.
Mariah followed him with a frown, "scent?"
Asher pulled open his door and walked out. He wanted to teleport and find the scent but he had to force himself to remember where he was. His secretary who happened to be a wolf stood up on seeing him.
"Is there anything you need, High Alpha?"
Asher ignored her and just went straight to his private elevator. Mariah rushed and entered before the doors closed, all the while watching her brother and wondering what the hell was going on.
Asher seemed to know the floor number the scent was coming from and pressed it. He closed his eyes and rested his head on the elevator wall, the scent making him tingle all over. His heart was swelling with anticipation, after all, living as long as he had, he would be a fool to not know what was happening. How long has it been? A hundred years. No, a hundred and seventeen years to be exact. He had not felt any attraction to any woman for a hundred and seventeen years, he had not perceived any tantalizing scent for a hundred and seventeen years and now here he was, a sweet scent pulling him to the HR department of his company. A place he can go years without visiting for once.
The elevator dinged and the doors opened and he just wanted to fly his way there but still had to control himself. He walked in long strides to the manager's office, knowing fully well that that was where the scent was coming from.
As soon as he stepped into the department, he froze. Right beside the alpha of Redwing Pack who was the manager of the HR department was a woman. She had long black hair that reached her waist and she was dressed in blue pants and a white shirt. The manager seemed to be introducing her to everyone there and Asher had to force himself not to act harshly.
As if sensing his presence, the manager turned and so did she and Asher gasped. Those eyes, the most beautiful hazel eyes he had ever seen. And that face, that nose, those lips, how long has he missed them? She looked just like she did a hundred and seventeen years ago but only with signs of maturity. It was obvious that she wasn't a teenager but a full-grown, mature woman.
'Is there a problem, High Alpha? Why are you here?' The manager asked in the mind link.
'A new recruit?' Asher asked.
'Yes, Alpha. This is Pheobe Martins. A new recruit in the technical team, I'm just introducing her here before having someone to take her to her department.'
'Pheobe' Asher repeated the name in his mind. It wasn't that bad. He may be used to Naomi but he can live with Phoebe too. 'Alright, carry on. Was just having a look around.' Asher replied in the mind link and the man nodded. They were done having their mind conversation before the rest of the people in the room noticed and stood up to greet him.
Asher only nodded at them but as he turned to walk away, he glanced at Phoebe again to catch her staring at him. As if noticing she was staring too much, she blushed so hard and looked away. Asher chuckled to himself, guess wooing her won't be too difficult if she was already attracted to him. He walked away with a big smile on his face.
Mariah couldn't take it anymore and asked, "Now can you tell me what the hell is happening?"
Asher grinned at her, "Nothing much, I just have to woo your sister-in-law."
