Where we stand now

Are You Kidding Me?!

"What?!" I say practically screaming at her.
"Terra you got scavenger....." She whispered

"What the hell does that mean?!" I scream at her

"What it means is that you are going to be sent out into the wasteland to locating old monuments, finding edible food, useable water sources etc."

Ohhh shit

"Wait so this means I have to go into the radiation poisoned wasteland?!"
I say stuttering with a tear in my eye.

"Yeah terra, and it says here on your sheet that your training is this week and that you'll be shipping out in a week...." She says holding back just as many tears as I was.

"Well um I guess this is bye then.." She mumbles

"Ya I guess it is..." I say

Almost instantaneously we both hugged each other really hard knowing this might be the last time we see each other.

"Promise me you'll get back safely Terra." Jenny whispers in my ear

"Don't worry I don't plan on going anywhere."

I hope

"Here take this." She says and puts a blue ponytail holder in my hand

"Its not a lot, but I mean who has a lot down here, but I want you to take it to remember me."she says still holding back tears.

"Thanks Jenny, and even if something goes wrong just know your the best friend I've ever had." I say to her

"Same here." She says we hug one final time

"See you later Jenny, I promise I'll come back." I say with a smile

"THEY GAVE YOU WHAT?????" Katrina yells at me

"Ya I got scavenger..." I say softly trying not to upset her further

" Terra you know theres a lot of bad things out there, for all we know your parents are zombies roaming around for heavens sake!!!" She yells

Did she really just pull the parent card

"Oh terra, I, I'm sorry to bring them up in all of this, I know its been hard for you since the bombs hit" she mumbles

"Besides they must have picked you for a reason to be a scavenger right, you are very good with computers I've seen it for myself so they must have an important job for you." She says with a hint of happiness

" I just hope I make it back in one piece."
