I looked at my phone. The time read 11 o'clock exactly. It was time to go down to the station.

My boyfriend Sonny had told me that if he wasn't home by 11:00 and didn't call earlier, I should go down to the SVU squad room. I was more than happy to go. I'd only seen the place once before and that was awhile ago. I wondered if the place had changed any since the last time I saw it.

I flipped my brown hair out of my face and put on my bright red coat. Sonny had always made fun of my coat but I knew that he liked it. If he liked me, he had to like my coat. Those were the rules!

The chilly air blasted me in the face. I really didn't like living in New York during the winter time. I was used to the Southern version of winter with temperatures in the 50s and low 60s. Then there was that one day where snow would stick and every one would be thanking Mother Nature.

I soon reached the building and entered. Some one was sleeping at the front desk with hot chocolate by their side. I noticed they had their hand on their gun while sleeping. Can't be too cautious these days I suppose.

I quietly walked over to the elevator and pressed the button that lead to the squad room. I danced a little to the elevator music. Any security guards at that moment probably thought I was crazy. I didn't care though.

The elevator let out its usual ding and I stepped out.

"Wendy," I heard a familiar voice say.

I smiled, "Sonny, what are you still doing here?"

"I took some of the load off of Amanda. I felt the need to help since she is pregnant and all," he explained.

"Always the hero, huh?" I ruffled his hair a bit.

"You know me," he hugged me, "Say, the new vending machine had some awesome candy bars. No one is here. Why don't we go check it out? "

"Hell yes, I am starving!" I exclaimed.

"You're always starving Wendy!" replied Sonny.

We made our way over to the machine. My jaw dropped in aw.

"I swear," I leaned against the glorious machine, "cops get the best junk food."

He chuckled, "I suppose so."

I reached for a dollar out of my pocket. I put it inside the machine. There were so many things to choose from. I decided to go with a classic Hersey bar. What could go wrong with a little chocolate?

I waited for the bar, but it never came.

I gasped, "The damn thing broke on me!"

I kicked it, "Piece of shit!"

"Hey!" Sonny moved me out of the way, "Hold on. Be gentle with the baby."

He smacked it but no result.

"Fuck it," he said as he assaulted the machine.

After five minutes and a pair of red, sore hands later, Sonny managed to get the bar to fall. I rushed over and picked it up.

"Aren't you going to get anything?" I asked.

"Are you serious?" he grinned.

"I'll take that as a no," I bit into the bar.

The chocolate instantly melted in my mouth. I hummed at started to hug the bar.

"Where's my love?" Sonny smirked, "I'm the one who got the bar for you."

I rolled my eyes, and walked over to him. I gave him a big bear hug.

While in the embrace Sonny whispered into my ear, "Let's go sit down somewhere. We need to talk."

I grew a little worried. I was afraid that this conversation might occur. I will have to meet his co-workers. I felt a bit insecure because I looked really young. I was 20, but I looked 16. It was always a curse. Everyone thought that every guy I was with was a cradle robber. I hated all the glances Sonny and I received in public. I wish I had a nickel for every time a waitress or even a passerby thought I was Sonny's daughter.

"I want you to meet the rest of the squad," he looked into my eyes.

I groaned.

He quickly added, "I know that you don't like that idea, but I am really excited for you to meet them. They'll love you, no matter what you look like. I already told them that you looked young."

"Yes, they all say that," I replied, "Then their friends actually see me and they judge us. It doesn't matter what you say. I'm use to the judgement, but these are SVU detectives!" I said.

"Wendy," he grabbed my hand, "I love you. Guess what? I'm an SVU detective too! I know that there is no law that says if a girl looks younger than her age, then you can't be with her. You are 20. It's okay. To them, you'll actually look normal compared to these other creeps."

He had such a way with words. I couldn't help but believe every single word he said. I kissed him and he kissed back. I wasn't afraid of their judgment. I wasn't afraid of anything.

He pulled away, "Now C'mon, I'll beat the shit out that machine again. I'm hungry."

I put my arm around his waist, "No, we'll beat it together."
