It was a usual chilly night in New York. That particular night was in the in the heart of winter, and I was afraid power would go out. It was storming horribly, and I wished my boyfriend would hurry up and come home. He had promised me he would be home by ten, but as usual, he was late. I tried to go to sleep, because I knew he was going to be so late. I looked up at the ceiling and picked my lips, anxious to see Mike. I tossed back and forth in the bed, hoping to roll onto his body; I did not roll onto anyone but the floor. A loud thump rang through the apartment.
"Ow," I rubbed my head.
The entrance to the apartment flew open and slammed against the wall, "Alexis? Are you okay?! It's Mike!"
"I'm fine," I groaned loud enough for Mike to hear.
"Oh," he breathed a sigh of relief as he opened the bedroom door, "What happened? You scared me."
"Sorry," I rolled my eyes, "I fell off the bed."
He chuckled, "Nice going."
I silently lifted myself off of the floor. I walked around to my side of the bed and threw myself on it. I heard silence before the rustling of clothes and steps. Mike's dresser squeaked and more rustling sounds followed. I sighed heavily hoping Mike would get the hint, but he continued to do his own thing. I felt the bed sink in as Mike laid down. The cool air hit my legs as he lifted the blanket and place it on himself. Warm breath floated behind my ear and an arm wrapped around my torso.
"Love you," Mike whispered into my ear.
I did not answer.
"Love you," he said with a little tension in his voice.
I kept silent.
"Alexis," he said in a normal voice, "love you."
No response.
He finally got the hint, "What did I do?"
"You are late," I pouted.
"I'm always late," he responded.
I pushed his arm off of me, "I know. I'm sick of it."
"Alexis," he pushed my hair away to get closer to me, "You know I'm the Sergeant of the Manhattan SVU."
"I know. I'm just angry that I cannot do anything about how little time we spend together," I spoke.
"I wish I could change it too," said Mike, "Every time I have to spend a night at the station and sleep on those unbearable cots, I think of you and how much I wished I was in the bed with you in my arms."
I replied, "I appreciate the words, but just let me be mad okay? I just need to get the feelings out."
I turned toward him to see a wide grin plastered on his face. He said, "Okay."
I snuggled into his chest, "You just worry me sometimes. You remind me of your father."
Our fathers were in a love-hate relationship. We knew each other since we were teenagers, but never really became something until we reached adulthood. My father would come home complaining all the time about Mike's father. I never really understood until I met him. He was a total assbutt.
"I'm not my father," Mike gritted his teeth.
"I know, but the way you act sometimes gives me the impression that you still want to be like him. Like when you take work too seriously and never make time for anyone!" I let it all out.
"Alexis," his thumb stroked my cheek, "I will always care for you. You'll be in my mind no matter what. I do care, but it's hard because I also care for my work too. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance things."
I kissed his cheek, "I cannot really stay mad at you."
"I know," he smirked, "I wish I could stay here forever."
"Could you take Friday off?" I boldly asked.
He looked at me with a serious face. I held my breath as I anxiously waited for a reply. He opened his mouth but then hastily shut it. He thought about it for a few seconds. I crossed my fingers under the covers.
He finally answered, "Why not?"
"Oh I love you!" I exclaimed.
I grabbed his face with both hands and kissed his lips. He was the more dominant one and would not let me be in control. He pulled my arms over my head as he climbed on top of me. He continued to kiss me and kiss my neck as well. I let out a few moans. I felt love bites being left all over the right side of my neck. I arched my back when he hit my sweet spot. He pulled away and I stared into his lustful eyes.
Suddenly, his phone went off on the nightstand.
"God dammit," he groaned as he looked at the Caller ID, "It's Carisi."
I giggled, "Carisi the Cockblocker!"
Mike threw his phone across the room, "Not tonight."
