The reason of why is it preferable to say 'Bismillah' before the start of any action, that when you are already used on saying bismillah before anything you do, on the day of the judgment when you receive your kitab, ( the book where is decided, that you either will be in jannah or jhnum )
You would be already used on saying bismillah so unconsciously you would say it and then when you open it all your sins would be gone and you can easily enter jannah. Subhanallah all of that from just two words!
