With Niall being a real gentle man and always wanting to do things in the more traditional way, it is usually the bed. He wants your intimate moments to be special and doesn't want to waste it in some sort of if place that isn't very appropriate or somewhere that it just should happen in.
However... There has been the odd couple of times where Niall and you have done it on the couch or in the kitchen because neither of you could have waited...
