Charlotte.
I haven't seen Monica for a couple hours today which was good because it was a little bit awkward after what happened in the cafeteria. After a while though, I did get a little bit nervous. I found Allie sitting on Monica's burgandy leather couch next to a boy I recognized from school. I think he was in my gym class last year. He was for the most part really quiet but I have a memory of him knocking down a scrauny kid during basketball season and then just dribbling away. He didn't mean to, but it bothered me for weeks that he didn't apologize or atleast help the kid up. The memory is now back in my head.
I didn't care that I was interupting whatever Allie and Kevin were doing. "Do you know where Monica is?"
Allie gave me a glare that burned a hole right in the middle of my forehead. I've seen that glare many times before but it was very rarely used on me. She shot me a very angry "No." and then I gave a slight nod and walked into the kitchen.
In the kitchen i found Delli attempting to talk to Dade. Dade wasn't very popular himself, so it wasn't that big of a deal to talk to him. It was for Delli, but I mean he's a pretty chill guy in general. He was shy though, so he was offering just as much to the conversation as Delli was, which wasn't alot. Before i interrupted i heard Delli shyly ask Dade if he wanted something to drink (which I'm pretty sure she's asked a few times already.
"Are you sure you don't want any more beer? We have plenty. Or soda, we have that too. We don't have water though, if your a water drinker. You could always drink tap if you were that thirsty. Can i get you anything? I mean, if you want?" Delli was getting more comfortable with the coversation, but was obviously nervous and even Dade picked up on it.
"No, I'm fine. Thanks, though." Dade replied with a friendly giggle. I know i was about to interrupt what was actually going pretty well, besides Delli's slight freak out, but at the moment, I felt that it was extremely important.
"Delli, have you seen Monica?" Delli looked more relieved to have something to take away the awkwardness than angry, like Allie.
"No, sorry. Why, you looking for her?" I was about to say 'Yeah, can you help me find her? It's important.' I know Delli would be upset but she would get over it eventually. Before i could say that, though, Dade jumped in himself.
"Monica's the girl who lives here, right? I think i saw her go upstairs, if that helps." Monica made it clear to us to try to keep people away from going upstairs. After about 20 mintues of trying to handle people playing stair slide, we just gave up and decided that we are going to have a good time. None of us have seen Monica so we didn't think she would have cared if called the quits. Why would Monica, of all people be spending the party upstairs?
I made my way upstairs and saw a couple different pairs getting quite comfortable on Monica's hallway carpeting. None of them seemed to ever come up for air. I checked Monica's dad's room first, knowing that if Monica were to let people use that room, she must be on drugs or something. Her dad's room was somewhat messy. A normal person would just think that he hadn't made the bed or he hasn't cleaned up in a while and it was no big deal. But I could tell that there were people here. Monica's dad would never let anything get out of order.
Next stop was Monica's room. I found Monica sitting on her bed with some boy I have never seen before. They weren't doing anything dirty, but they were watching an old black and white movie that was half in spanish. I walked in, not stopping when i saw she was alright and I certainly wasn't caring how noisy it got. I closed the door behind me by just flinging it back into it's snug spot in the door frame, which caused a big bang. The slamming didn't break their gaze into the television set. By stomping in there, and slamming a door, I seemed angry, I'm sure. But i really wasn't. I was just curious to find out why Monica was sitting here with some boy she barelt knows watching spanish movies.
"Monica? What are you doing?" I didn't say this in a protective way because the last thing I need is her on my case about that again.
"Oh. Hi, Charlotte. Wanna hit?" Monica lifted up her arm which was holding a joint. I didn't notice she was holding that before but now that I could see it my nostrils were overwhelmed my the fumes ofa smell that reminded me of freshly cut grass.
"Monica, is that pot?! Where did you get it?" My eyes grew wide and by the way she showed no emotion and just offered me her joint, I knew she has been up here the whole time.
"Jeremy gave it to me. It calmed me down alot. It's great." For the first time, I really took a good look at the boy who was sitting with Monica. He looked dirty. He had on a hoodie and a pair of shorts that were up to his ankles due to the fact that he wore them very low. He gave me a smile that either suggested 'Haha, I'm mocking you.' or 'Hey, when I'm done with her do you want a turn with me?' Whichever it was, I couldn't tell. Jeremy then got up, pulled his pants up (barely) and walked toward the door. Before exiting completely, he turned back as if he just remembered that we were in there, too.
"Hey, I got to go. I promised a bud I'd meet him somewhere. See ya." Then Jeremy left.
Monica and I sat in silence for a couple of minutes before Monica spoke up and sai, "Come on, Charlotte, let's have a little fun!" With that, she gave me a wink, pulled off her shirt and started leaning in toward what seemed to be my mouth. I backed away and got up off the ground. Her shirt was ontop of my shoulder and I threw it back at her.
"Monica! What are you doing?"Monica looked up at me at me half confused half angry.
"Come on, Charlotte. Don't be a prude! Just have a bit of fun for once!" She got up and pushed me onto the bed and got ontop of me. She slowly started kissing my neck and made her way up to my face. All i could do is stand there. When i rejected she told me not to worry about it and that I'm being a prude and a fun-killer.
As much as I would love to say that Monica forced me to makeout with her, I can't. She didn't force me to do anything. Sure i rejected but I gave in and I was fine with it. Nobody can say no to Monica Furth.
