Running up the stairs from the dungeon, I heard the rain pouring outside. Shivering, I saw more stairs leading up, probably to the Beast's room. Not wanting to go back down to the dungeon, I tried to move the guards blocking the stairs leading to the huge hallway. It was no use. I ran up the stairs and was surprised to see heartless appear. I quickly vanquished them and ran into the Beast's room. It was as gloomy as the dungeon! Paintings on the walls and the bed was ripped and torn to shreds. The only thing that stood out was a beautiful rose in a glass case. It was shimmering and was the only light in the dark room. That and the lightning outside. I walked over to the rose and lifted off the glass case. I reached out to touch it when I heard the door slam open.
Turning around, I gasped as Beast ran towards me. Dropping the glass case, I moved out of his way as he pushed me to the ground to get to his rose. He glared at me and I heard him growl at me.
"Get out," he said quietly. I stood up, making sure not to step on the broken glass.
"Beast, please listen. I'm sorry! I didn't mean to touch your rose, I swear! It just seemed like it was calling me." He turned to me, his eyes glowing with rage.
"GET OUT!" he bellowed. I stumbled backwards, startled by his outburst. I took off running, turning around to see he looked ashamed. Was he really that mad at me? Or was it that he was mad at himself? I ran down the hall, relieved that the guards standing in front of the steps had moved. I ran back to the foyer, but saw all the furniture, dishes, silverware, all the household objects standing in front of the doors. I saw Chip hop over to me. I ran down to him and picked him up.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Villagers are coming to attack us!" Chip said, looking scared. I smiled at him and tried to reassure him everything would be okay. Mrs. Potts came over and I set Chip down next to her.
"Where's Belle?" I asked her. She sighed and looked upset.
"The master yelled at her because she asked about the West Wing so much. He found her sneak over there, but stopped her before she could get in his room. She ran away." Man, I missed a lot while down in that stupid dungeon.
Wait a minute...was Belle in the West Wing because she wanted to help me find Hikari? My stomach churned with regret. I hope I didn't get her in trouble...
"But what about the rose? And the curse? Belle's the one to break it! Without her, Beast will stay the same," I said, trying not to sound upset. But I was. I couldn't just let Beast be lonely for the rest of his life. Everyone needs a happy ending. No matter what they look like. Or how they act.
Suddenly, I heard pounding on the doors. The villagers! They really were trying to break in. I ducked underneath the stairs. All the furniture stopped moving and talking. Heart racing, I watched as the door bust open. The villagers had used a tree as a battering ram. Their torches sent shadows against the walls as they stormed in. I looked up and saw Lumiere on the railing. He winked at me.
"Attack!" All the furniture came to life and got the jump on the villagers. They were surprised, but fought anyways. I saw Gaston slip away from the fighting and run up the stairs. Beast! I moved from my hiding spot and followed him. Man! He was fast for a really buff guy. I was running down the hallway to Beast's room when I heard Beast's roar and glass shatter.
Running into his room, I saw the huge window was broken. They were on the roof! I climbed on the slippery roof and tried to reach them. The rain was coming down hard, so I couldn't see that well. I did see that Gaston was pushing Beast over the edge. This dude was really crazy! I pulled myself up and saw that Beast wasn't even putting up a fight.
I've got to help!
"Hey! Gaston! Are you really that crazy to try to win Belle over? Cause she's not into guys who try to kill other people! Just sayin'!" I yelled over the thunder. Gaston glanced back at me, an annoyed look on his face. I continued anyways. "Plus, she doesn't like you! She's in love with-"
"Beast!" I looked down and saw a figure. It was Belle!
"Belle!" Beast said. He finally snapped out of it. Gaston had broken off a sharp piece of the statues on the roof and was about to hit him in the back when Beast grabbed it. I leaped over to where they were and pushed Gaston back from Beast, but he doubled back and grabbed my arm!
"Who do you think you are, girly?" Gaston sneered. I grabbed my hammer with my other hand and slammed him in the head with it. He yelled in pain and I freed my arm from his tight grip.
"Who are you calling girly— woah!"
Before I could finish my sentence, Beast threw me over his shoulder and leaped to a more solid part of the roof. He put me down and nodded at me.
"Thank you, Haku." I smiled at him. Looking up, I saw Belle had gotten to the balcony near us.
"Anything to help a friend— hey! Not again!"
Beast picked me up and tossed me up over to Belle, my screams following soon after. Luckily, I landed on my feet next to Belle. She looked surprised, but relived I wasn't hurt. I smiled to reassure her I was fine. Beast climbed up and held her face in his big hand, paw, whatever.
"You came back," he said. She smiled and held onto his hand. I suddenly saw Gaston behind him.
"Beast!" I yelled, but it was too late. Gaston stabbed him in the back with his dagger. Beast howled in pain. Furious, I jumped over the railing and kicked Gaston in his chest. He lost his balance and fell of the roof, falling to his doom. Beast almost fell, too, but Belle held onto him.
I helped her pull Beast onto the balcony. He was bleeding and could barely keep his eyes open. Belle was gently stroking his head.
"You, you came back," he said, smiling.
"Of course I came back," Belle said. "I couldn't let them...oh, this is all my fault!" She hugged him, close to tears. "If only I'd gotten here sooner."
"Maybe... maybe it's better... this way," Beast whispered. Close to tears myself, I stood next to them.
"Don't talk like that," I said. "You'll be all right."
"Yeah," Belle said. "We're together now, everything's going to be fine, you'll see."
Beast lifted up his hand and held Belle's face, whispering," At least I got to see.... your face.... one last time." His eyes closed and fell back to the ground.
Belle shook her head. "No, no... please....please don't leave me." Tears were streaming down her face and I stepped back.
"I love you," she whispered. All of a sudden, lights started falling from the sky. At first, there were just a few. But then more came! The wind was blowing and Beast's body started floating in the air. Belle and I stood in awe as Beast started to transform! He was turning into a human! He floated back to the ground and stood up. He looked at his hands and feet, then turned around and looked at us.
"Belle, Haku," he said. "It's me." Belle walked up to him and touched his long, beautiful hair.
"It is you!" she exclaimed. Beast, who didn't look like a beast anymore, ran his fingers in Belle's hair. I covered my eyes, knowing they were about to kiss. Yuck. I mean, I was happy for them and everything, but gross. I heard fireworks. Seriously, the popping sounds in the air and bright flashes of light told me enough.
Uncovering my eyes, I saw this dark, gloomy castle had turned into a beautiful, golden one. Beast was spinning Belle around, both of them laughing and smiling. Awww. They were made for each other. They both turned to me.
"Thank you, Haku, for everything you've done," Beast said.
"No problem," I said. "I'm just glad everything worked out for you guys." I hugged Belle and Beast good bye. "I've gotta go. Still have to find Sora."
"Good luck. That kid doesn't stay in one place for long," Beast said with a chuckle. Smiling, I opened a dark portal. Waving, I walked inside and headed to the next world.
