You were going camping with your best friend, Nico di Angelo.

"Are you sure this part of the woods is safe?" You nervously asked Nico, once you guys had shadow traveled away from Camp Half Blood.

"Of course." He gave a nonchalant shrug. "It's a bit chilly, but it's perfect for me."

Shivering, you whacked his arm. "Thanks for thinking about me, di Angelo!"

"Ow! But thanks for reinforcing that I'm the best." He said sarcastically.

You two trekked through the woods to find an open clearing. "Whoa, (Y/N), slow down!" Nico puffed, trying to catch up to you. You smirked; you had him beat in terms of hiking. Cruelly, you sped up.

"Stop! Who's being insensitive now?" Nico demanded.

Laughing, you waited for your terribly unathletic best friend to catch up.

"Thanks," he said, glaring. "I think there's supposed to be a clearing over there." He pointed north.

"Great." You took the lead again, leaving Nico in a trail of dust.

You dumped your backpack on the ground. "Let's pitch the tent here."

He unzips his bag, and reaches in. "Oops...I forgot to bring it."

You closed your eyes and counted to ten. "It's fine, we'll just sleep under the open sky. It'll be the same experience. Except I'll probably die of the cold."

Nico rubbed his neck and grinned sheepishly. "Sorry, I was so excited to go camping with you that I forgot to pack it."

You smiled. Nico was incredibly sweet. "That's alright. C'mon, let's build a fire and make some s'mores."

After nightfall, you and Nico laid on your separate sleeping bags, gazing at the sparkling stars in the indigo inked sky.

"It's so beautiful out here," You murmured. "You don't really appreciate it at camp because we're always busy warding off monsters."

Nico said something, but you didn't hear it. "It's not as beautiful as you though."

"Nico, I really appreciate that you're my best friend. You've stuck with me through thick and thin, and I'm glad that we have a healthy relationship." You laughed. "Look at this, nature making me feel nostalgic. But seriously, Nico, I'm glad that we're-"

"Best friends. Yeah, I know. I'm grateful for you too." Nico turned on his side, so that you could no longer see his face.

A bitter wind swept through the forest. You smiled. It had been an absurd idea to go camping in late fall, when it was cold in this region of the state. However, the trip commemorated the first time you and Nico had met.

Your sleeping bag did nothing to shield you from the cold. You threw the covers off, and crept over to Nico.

"Nico, can we share a sleeping bag? It's starting to get really cold." You whispered, unsure if he was still awake.

Nico's eyes flew open. His pale face was illuminated by the stars, and his messy dark hair and eyes were attractive in the starlight. He would never admit it, but he had had feelings for you recently, and sharing a sleeping bag would complicate things. But if he refused, then you would be suspicious, and the last thing he wanted was to confuse you.

"Yeah, of course, (Y/N), climb in." Nico held up the covers and you crawled in next to him. Already, you could feel his body heat, and you snuggled closer to him.

"Thanks." Yawning, your eyes started to slip shut. "Hey, Nico?"

"Yeah?"

"If you ever start to like a girl or a guy, please don't let it come between us, okay?"

Nico's heart stopped. He wanted to tell you so badly, right then and there, that the only person he wanted was you, but you'd never shown any non-platonic feelings toward him.

Your bodies were pressed against each other for heat, with you two facing each other. You were only half-awake.

Slowly, you subconsciously moved closer to Nico until your lips touched.

It was a warm kiss, tingly and sweet, and you no longer felt cold. Nico wrapped his protective arms around you, and you fell asleep.

The next morning when you awoke, Nico was already tending to the fire. You wrapped a jacket around yourself and made your way towards him.

"About that kiss last night..." Nico began.

"What kiss?" You asked, still groggy from sleep. Nico's face hardened.

"Never mind."

You suddenly remembered. "Oh that one! Nico, you're my best friend, and-"

At the mention of best friend, Nico turned his back on you. "I just wanted to say that it didn't mean anything." His heart broke in two.

You were silenced, the words you were about to say stuck in your throat.

"I really like you too."

Oh shoot. I didn't mean to make that so sad. Sorry guys :( Although, I really liked that oneshot. However, I'm not a big fan of depressing oneshots, so there will probably not be another one.

That was based off of a short memory I read in a magazine, where a girl kissed her best friend on a camping trip. It really had no detail on how the kiss was initiated, so I kinda struggled with that part. Lol. Thanks for reading.
