"Forgive me, Lisa."
Her child stared up at her, blue eyes wide and trusting.
"I don't want to leave you, but there's a monster inside me. I have to get it out."
Her hands reached for the toddler. "There are monsters inside you too. But don't worry. I'll fix that."
The hands closed around her throat.
After, she went to the kitchen. Picked up a knife. Pressed it to her stomach. "I have to get the monster out."
Poor little mother.
The monster inside is not the child you carry.
The monster lurks deep inside your heart.
