"Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up

All the best of what we've done is yet to come

Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up

Just remember who I am in the morning" - Losing Your Memory, Ryan Star

"Are we there yet?" I whined from the back seat, resting my head in the palm of my hand as the trees streaked by from my sight.

The faster we got back to seeing Cole, the better. If he can help us remember anything that my dad might have said about some sort of back door entrance to Paradecios, then I'll do whatever it takes not to become queen, which means Kai has to be kept alive. He's the only other person who can take my father's place besides my mother and I.

"Like I said ten minutes ago," Ryker seemed to be running out of patience by the mile marker that passed by, "we'll get there when we get there."

I groaned at his response and slouched in my seat, crossing my arms over my
chest. It would be so much easier if we could teleport. Everything would be a lot easier instead of being stuck in a car with the brat. Dane was sitting beside me as he was having conversations with Elena who was asking the kid questions about himself since Kai was too scared to cross a line with Dane because he was afraid Dane was "sensitive".

"Your eyes are very interesting, are they hereditary?" She wondered, peering into Dane's eyes.

He shrugged, "I dunno. Never really got to meet my parents."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Her voice dripped with compassion and sympathy towards the little boy, "I'm sure they would be very proud of you."

Dane laughed, it wasn't bitter like I had expected it to be, it was full of humor, "Yeah. Sure." He then turned the conversation back on Elena. Every time we asked about him, his past or anything, he would give a vague answer and turn the conversation around, but was that really reason to worry about Aria's warning? He's just a kid with mad ninja moves, but a kid none the less. Children are sensitive, they are wide eyed and bratty little things, right?

The car ride couldn't be any slower, I didn't realize how long it had taken us to get to Anake's cave. The road seemed endless and just as I was about to declare that I take the wheel, Dane turned to me, his kaleidoscope eyes forever changing like a cameleon, "I thought you might like this." He mumbled under his breath as he revealed a steel knife he was hiding up his jacket sleeve. It was agile with beautiful curves to the blade and small elegant designs along it's hilt.

I pulled my eyebrows together, studying it carefully as he placed it gently into my hands. All I could do was look down at the small, cold weapon in my hand. It took me a few seconds to actually meet Dane's fixated gaze on me, "Wow...I don't know what to say...you're not as annoying and awful and bratty and-"

Dane rose an dark eyebrow at me, "You're not very good at saying thank you, huh?"

Ignoring his comment, I asked the first question that came to mind, "Where'd you get it?"
