"Your guns are loaded
And your lies are the bullets
So here is the trigger
Go ahead and pull it, now

Are you sure you wanna play this game?
Are you sure you wanna play it?" -Traitor, Daugherty

I paced back and forth as Ryker sat down on the floor as he tied up the unconscious kid to a chair, duck taping his mouth shut in case he started screaming when he woke up. His hands tied behind his back and his feet tied to the legs of the chair. His head hung forward, his hair falling into his face.

"You made sure you took all of his weapons?" I asked, eyeing the table full of small devices, lock picks, knifes, and others that I couldn't even name. He was prepared.

I didn't have to see my stepfathers face to tell that he rolled his eyes, "For the last time, yes, I did. And stop pacing, you're giving me a headache." He tightened the restraints on the psychopath. He looked up to the boys face and he let out a small sigh, "He didn't kill me."

"Well aren't you lucky." I muttered sarcastically as I picked up one of the little guy's weapons, weighing it in the palm of my hand. Most of these were all Celestial Bronze. I carefully set the weapon down, thinking up all the answers I would demand from the kid.

"I don't know if it's luck." He murmured, studying the child's features carefully, "Maybe since he knew that I can't come back like you can..."

I let out a snort, "Yeah, like he's got a soul." I turned away from Dane's weapons, walking up behind Ryker, "That kid's a time bomb. I say we dump him off with the police and let them deal with the him."

Ryker's eyebrows furrowed together, a small frown appearing on his face, "I thought you of all people would be more understanding."

I glanced down at the unpolished wooden floor. Under normal circumstances, he would be right. But this kid threatened to kill my sister. He could do it, he had the skill and the knowledge. I'm not going to let him destroy what I have been protecting for years, "You thought wrong." I clenched my fists and let out an annoyed sigh, "Tell me when he wake up." I ordered, stepping away from the demigod and the monster.

Ryker shook his head, "I must have forgotten when I sighed the contract that I would let my step son order me around." He turned around, giving me a snarky smile.

Rolling my eyes, I walked out of the room. On top of everything, I have a sarcastic step father and a demon-like child in the same house along with a fire-cracker younger sister and...Elena. The only peace I can seem to get is with her. And even then it's hard because we aren't on the same page, or at least that's what it feels like.

Once I stepped foot out of the room, Elena ran smack into me, her face flustered as I quickly wrapped my arm around her waist to keep her from falling. Elena's blue eyes searched mine for a second before Ryker piped up from the room, "And I would prefer less soulful gazing into each other's eyes-"

"Who asked you for your input?" I demanded, unwrapping my arm from the woman who jumped from me just as fast, a blush creeping up on her face that she tried to conceal with staring at me straight on, "We need to talk. There's some things I really think you should know..." She trailed off, pushing back some of her hair from her face, taking in a deep breath, "Please?"

I nodded my head slowly, shifting my weight and rubbing the back of my neck. I hate it when she says 'we need to talk'.

She bit the bottom of her lip and awkwardly gestured down the hall way, "Um, we should probably talk somewhere more...private." She suggested and I wanted to do anything to ease her nervousness, but I felt like there was nothing I could do so I agreed with her, "Yeah...that would probably be good." I wanted to hit myself for how stupid that sounded. I shouldn't be this nervous. We got it out of the way that we still cared about each other, we just haven't had the time or opportunity to actually work on being us again.
