 (Dustin’s POV)

When she shut herself down, the light in her eyes went out, and her arms relaxed by their sides. She stared straight up at the sky, at the heavens, where I knew she would be going to- or at least her soul would (If it wasn’t already up there).

I finished smoothing the dug-up ground over her and sat down on the dirt. I had just helped my friend to die. But did she really die? Or was she still alive down there – on pause?

I threw the shovel to the side where it made an empty clanging noise similar to the emptiness I felt.

I found my way out of the forest, and stared at the cars that whizzed past.

I found my car at the side of the road. I got in, started the engine and drove off into the distance.
