Chapter 12: Stay Alive

Okay, first off: SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING. You won't believe me when I tell you how hard it's been for me these past 2 weeks, school is KILLING me. But now I'll have more time to update so I will definitely update AT LEAST one more part next week! ♥ Ok anyways, hope you enjoy this chapter!

'I can't let my emotions control me.. I must pull myself together and protect my team. Even if my relationship with Petra... or Levi isn't the best at the moment... I care for them no matter what.' You thought as you walked out of the HQ towards your horse. Scouts were leaving in ten minutes and you had to be there on time. You were about to hop on your horse when you felt someone tap on your shoulder very lightly. You turned around to see Levi, he looked pretty upset.

"(Y/n).. Don't do anything stupid. Can we make a deal?" He asked you.

"Like Hell. Have you ever seen me do anything stupid during a mission?" You asked while chuckling a little.

"'Course not.. I just.. don't want to lose you." Levi gazed into your (e/c) eyes with a saddened look. "And... I love you." He said as he walked away.

'I love you too...' You thought, but couldn't say out loud. You hopped on your horse and ordered it to move. You and Petra were the only ones in the back of Levi's squad. Next came Eren, then Eld and Gunther, with Levi in the front. Your squad was positioned right in the middle of the formation.

"Scouts! We now begin the 57th expedition outside the walls!" You heard your Commander yell.

You were sitting on your horse, motionless, thoughts were flowing trough your mind like crazy. You wanted to protect all people around you and you didn't want anyone to die, but you knew that was impossible. You were dumbfounded for a moment, lost in your own thoughts, but then realized that the gates were opening. Quickly, you ordered your horse to start moving.

"Forward!!" Erwin yelled once again and everyone did as he said.

The gate slowly opened and you were greeted with bright sunlight shining into your eyes, as your horse started running. The expedition had begun. Right as the scouts reached the abandoned city, the first titan was spotted. You watched as other scouts took care of it and killed it. You wanted to do it as well, but you knew that this mission was not about killing titans, but getting Eren to stay alive. You saw the green smoke in the air and that meant all groups and squads had to separate to form the formation. The Special Operations Squad was positioned in the center, so all you had to do was go straight and avoid any possible titans.

-Time skip-

You weren't sure how much time had passed. None of your teammates had spoken a word, except for once, when a scout informed Levi about something and he ordered Petra to go to the nearest group of scouts to spread the news. You saw a bunch of green smoke signals, everything seemed to be going smoothly. But in a matter of minutes you heard loud screams from far away.

"Did you hear that?" Eren asked you.

"Yeah..." You answered him with an upset look on your face. It was always really hard for you to keep moving when you could hear the distinct screams of other scouts, knowing that you couldn't help them. Suddenly, you saw black smoke signals, which meant there was an abnormal titan heading your way.

"Eren, you fire it." Levi ordered.

'What a mess, we let them too far into the formation. The titans can get us at any given moment!' you thought. Suddenly you noticed a huge forest in the distance.

"Um, Corporal? Aren't we suppose to avoid the forest?" You asked.

"No. I have orders from Commander Erwin." And in a few minutes you were entering the forest. You had no idea why would Commander Erwin give such orders. Entering a forest was dangerous... very dangerous.

"Corporal, why are we in a forest?! If we stay here we won't know if a titan is approaching!" Eren shouted.

"Quit whining about the obvious Eren. Take a look at these big-ass trees. It's the perfect environment for 3DMG usage. And if you don't want to die, keep your mind alert!" Levi answered him.

"Yes Sir!" Eren shouted once again. 'What? But this is nonsense! This is not what scouts usually do!' You thought to yourself while riding deeper into the forest. And then you heard it. More screams of terror and a black smoke signal was fired.

"Black smoke!" Gunther said.

"It's right behind us! It must be the thing that came from the right back then." Eld shouted.

"Everyone, draw your blades! It'll be over in an instant when it appears." Levi said and everyone pulled out their blades. Every second seemed like an eternity, you were trying very hard to stay focused and not freak out. Nobody knew what was coming, but you knew for sure that whatever it was, you had to be prepared to fight. You looked behind you and saw a scout emerge from the forest, and then in a few seconds.. there it was.

A huge female-like titan swatted him away like it would a fly. You stared in horror as the blonde haired titan started running faster. You have never seen a titan this fast, nor did your teammates.

"Faster!" Levi shouted.

"It's too fast! There's no way to avoid it in this forest!" Gunther said.

"Corporal, let's switch to 3DM gear!" Petra shouted at Levi, but he gave no answer.

You saw more scouts fly towards the female titan but they were killed just as fast as the first one.

"Corporal, your orders!!" You shouted.

"We must kill it before it kills us!" Oluo added.

"Enough, I'll rip it to shreds." Eld said. Everyone kept begging Levi to give orders but he stayed silent. The titan was accelerating and was going to catch up to you at any second.

"Everyone, plug your ears!" Levi said as he fired a black smoke signal with a piercing sound to it.
