Sky's Point of View
I got up early the next morning and decided to start working out. Not wanting to kill myself on the first day I chose to only do ten push ups and sit ups. I wiped the sweat off my face and walked out into the brisk morning air. I walked to the meeting house and saw Will talking to Brad. I tried to be as quite as possible but the door squeaked drawing unwanted attention to me.
"Ah there she is." Brad smiled.
I have a forced smile back. "Here I am. Just came to see who my team was for today's run."
"Just in time here they come now." Will said gesturing towards the door that squeaked open again.
I turned around and narrowed my eyes."Hi sweet cheeks." Luke said smiling at me. "Can't wait to work with you. Oh and look who else is joining us." Luke stepped aside revealing a shy Jason. You've got to be kidding me.
"Here's the keys to the jeep, location of your target and the things we need." Brad said drawing my attention back to him and Will.
"Thanks." I snapped as I snatched the papers and keys from his hand. I turned around and walked out of the door muttering under my breath as I walked to the weapons area.
I grabbed my usual four pistols, holsters, two daggers and ammunition. After grabbing a book bag for the supplies I stood up and turned towards the door a glimmer of shiny metal catching my eye. I turned back around and saw a sword sitting up on the wall. I smiled and walked over to it, looking for a claimed sticker. The smile grew wider as I saw it has yet to be claimed. I walked to the desk and grabbed a sticker and wrote my name on it before returning to the sword and placing the tag on its resting position, officially making it mine. I gently placed the sheath across my back and walked back out. The all stood outside awaiting me to come out so they could go in. At least they were smart enough to leave me be. I stood by the railing as they filed inside but I soon grew annoyed and left to go fetch the jeep. I walked down the gravel path and found the jeep with the tag in the upper right hand corner of the windshield with a number that matched the one on the keys. I unlocked the doors and climbed inside. I started the engine and put it into gear and left it roll towards the weapon room. I shifted it into park before popping the trunk. I grabbed the handle on the top of my bag and carried it to the back, tossing it inside. I slid the katana off my back and gently placed it so it was supported by the back seat. The boys threw their stuff in with mine and I rolled my eyes at them. I was beyond annoyed but had to get over it if this run would be successful. As I turned to leave after closing the hatch I felt a hand grab my arm. I snapped around and glared at Jason with tightly clutched fists.
"What?" I growled.
"I'm sorry." He said sympathy in his tone and tears in his eyes. If he hadn't done what he did I would have been easily fooled. And believed that this "man" before me couldn't hurt a fly. I wouldn't be as easily deceived, again.
Without words I ripped my arm away from him and walked to the driver side door. I opened it up, got inside and slammed it shut, putting the vehicle back into drive and driving towards the gate. The people on duty swiftly opened it allowing us to drive threw without delay. The road the camp was built on was about a mile or so from a hard top road giving me a few minutes before having to retrieve the map.
I dug into my back pocket as we neared the road and pulled the folder piece of paper out. I handed it to Jason.
"Where we going?" I snarled venom laced in my words. From the corner of my eye I could see his shocked expression. "Well!"
"Oh um-" He stammered as he unfolded the map and scanned it. "Take a right it's a town about twenty miles from here should be there by noon."
I rolled my eyes, and leaned back in the seat knowing that this was gonna be a long twenty miles.
~><~
"Luke you're on toiletries, Jason you're on food, and I'll look for clothes." I said folding the list up and stuffing it back into my pocket. I popped the hatch and climbed out walking back to retrieve my stuff.
I slid the strap over my shoulder and adjusted the sword on my back its weight would be something I'd have to get used to. I grabbed my bag and half shouldered it. I started walking towards the doors of the store hearing quite jogging footsteps coming from behind me, until they fell in sync behind me.
"Get in get out meet at front when done." I instructed as we reached the door.
To my surprise it wasn't locked shut. It was free to open like it had been way back when. I pulled the handle and quietly slipped inside. Shelves were down on the floor and a little bit of everything was thrown everywhere, it must have been a mad house when this all started. I looked to the ceiling scanning for a directory sign. The boys followed my gaze and each found their directions. I walked forward and climbed oh so carefully over a pile of rubbish.
Once over the last obstacle I unsheathed my katana ready to try it out. I walked searching for my target along with scanning and listening for any infected close by. I had finally reached the clothing and what was there wasn't much. I grabbed a bunch of various sizes of what was left. Socks, underwear, shirts, jeans and shirts. I even picked up some stuff just for me. I grabbed my size undergarments, some sports bras, tank tops, jeans and running clothes even a new pair of running shoes. Perks of shopping now, everything is free. I squeezed my bag together and zipped it up, happy with my find. I walked towards the front and over the rubbish when as I was climbing over the second half of it, the floor began to shake. The walls started o crumble and ceiling tiles were falling all around me.
"Shit!" I cursed as I tried yanking my right ankle free that had slipped between the shelves. I bent down and tried to give it enough room to slip through but nothing worked. I struggled and struggled as everything came crashing down.
"Sky!" I heard Jason yell as he came to my side. "Luke!" He yelled and soon Luke stood beside him.
The grilled the shelves and pulled the heavy metal apart releasing the hold on my ankle. I jumped up and we started running for the door. With each step my ankle screamed in agonizing pain. We pushed through the doors and ran to the car jumping inside as quick as possible. We threw our bags at Luke who threw them in the back behind his seat. I turned the key, put it in drive and spun out of the parking lot. My adrenaline was pumping and the pain had seized for now but I would feel it soon. The car ride was quite as we all seemed to be in shock. My curiosity-something that always got the better of me- began to wonder. What was causing all these changes? First the trumpet sound and the hail, the extreme heat and now an earthquake. What was up? I wonder if anyone else besides me has noticed these...supernatural things. I looked over at Jason and as much as I hated to I opened my mouth.
"Do you know anything about theses changes?" I asked causing him to look at me.
"What do you mean?" He asked Luke now looked curious as well.
"When this first started I heard the trumpet sounds. What was that?" I asked. "I know you're in with Will and he seemed like some sort of govern official. Why haven't they done anything? What's going on?"
